St. Pat & MT/TM (where the heck is he these days?), it's time you call me "old," & I will deserve it! Not only was I out on a Friday night, but I was at the Harbor. Can you believe it? It is fast becoming one of my hangouts. EEK! : ) Next scheduled time out: January 5th.

I know the answer to An '88 Class Member's trivia, but I will wait to answer to see if anyone else gets it first.

Have a splendid 2002!

I was wondering who all would choose B for the answer to the trivia on what to do if the Pub was going to no longer be in existence. Good Optomistic Response, 87. So is the whole gang on here with you on your thoughts?

TRIVIA TIME: Speaking of Miller Time...It's name represents:

A. The name of a type of Beer B. The last name of the owners of the bar C. They are trying to promote it as a place where Mill workers are to go D. Both A and B E. All of the above or F. None of the above

Hmm, if I could live at any time in history, I think I would choose again to be born in 1970. Although certain aspects of other times are intriguing when taken as a whole with the medical advances, technology, modern day conveniences and the like, I think this era is quite acceptable. Hey I can't help it that I like creature comforts!!!

I hope everyone had a super Christmas, and that you all have a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

No problem. Darin's is now The DugOut. Yep, Miller Time used to be Crane Chase, and in between there it was Dobson's for a short time.--'96QT

Friday, December 28, 2001 - 04:11:34 PM

QT96-My mistake. I thought Miller Time was what used to be Darrin's on W. I didn't realize that Miller Time is what used to be Crane Chase Tavern, "back in the day". So what the hell is Darrin's on W now?~Avery

Friday, December 28, 2001 - 02:50:22 PM

Avery, Actually the "seedy outpost" you refer to, (which is the '90's beloved Miller Time), is actually located on County F, not County W. Had you ever went there, you might have stumbled upon '96QT a time or two, though not too recently. I saw the contest advertised, as well, as I was looking for some new year entertainment. I was very disappointed in their choice of activities for day, even for them! Ringing in 2000 over there was great, but it'll never be the same again. Oh well. Avery, any word on Rudolph?--You have to let me know.

'96 Hot-Tea and I always thought that we would want to live in the 50's, (poodle skirts, pony tails, & good tunes), until someone pointed out the fact that girls didn't have a lot of say back then, and suddenly I don't see myself in that decade! ; )

--'96QT

Friday, December 28, 2001 - 01:07:04 PM

Nah, I think I'd like to go back to the 60s.

Do all the drugs you want and listen to rock-and-roll in its heyday (imagine seeing Hendrix or Led Zepplin live in concert).

Then in the 70s, "love the one your with", i.e. fuck anyone you want in the 70s before the era of herpes and AIDS.

Then in the 80s, finally get serious about life just in time to take advantage of Reagan-omics: "Trickle-down", supply-side, "the-rich-get-really-rich-and-the-poor-get-poorer" and "don't-worry-about-the-deficit-spending-and-tax-cuts-now-fuck-the-younger-generations" attitude.

Then in the 90's start bitching about Social Security and electing politicians who stuff a bunch of money into it (actually just enough to last until about 2030) so that there's $ in it just about to the time you die; so you can spend your "hard-earned" money on obnoxious cars, SUVs, luxury cruises, and internet stocks.

And today (and for the next 30 years), the boomers get to suck Social Security dry and let the younger generation worry about the problem later.

Yeah, I think the 60s were the time to live. Damn, I wish I was a Baby Boomer!

Coffee Talk is an easy one. Wouldn't everyone want to live in the era between ABBA & Nirvana? Take me to the 80s baby!~Avery

Friday, December 28, 2001 - 10:09:32 AM

Just spotted a promo in this weeks edition of the BEE. Cancel your plans for New Years Eve and head to Miller Time in Phillips! Yep that's right, this seedy outpost on County W will be hosting its first annual "Frozen Wet T-Shirt Contest"! Oh my, I'm sure the Classiest Gals in Price County will be all over this one ($100 first prize with free drinks for contestants from 11pm to 1am). This is one of those train wreck type of events (turns your stomach but you just can't help yourself from taking a peek). Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend but I think we all would love to hear a report from any of you that are fortunate enough to attend or participate in this gala. ~Avery

St. Pat, As another thought, do you really want to say "strap on" in your posting? Do you really want to show that you have knowledge of anything that is "strap on?" I guess only a true man can make mention of that and still feel confident in himself! Later, '96QT : )

Friday, December 21, 2001 - 01:30:17 PM

The answer to 88's question would probably be B. Once QT said remodeling and closed in the same breath as Stoney Pub, my heart quivered (at least I think it was my heart). QT, I hate to disappoint you, but the teams from back in that era won't be wearing the tight, form-fitting shorts that revealed so much (or so little). We liked to call them "ballcrushers." They also showed what religion we all were, too. January 12th will be exciting because of the level of basketball, but QT, you won't get much to scope because their shorts will be so baggy. Time to "strap on" some X-ray vision glasses. Fellas, may be back next weekend for a day or so. Dry or melted? --- St. Pat

Trivia Time with a twist:

This hypothetical question should give all something to ponder:

If "The Pub" ever closes MT/TM, 87, BO DUKE, MANDARK, BUTLER, AVERY, and all:

A. Will become severely depressed causing them to sleep all day, (which will become their only escape), hoping for visions of hot sauce cheese and chips in their dreams.

B. Determination, perseverance, and industriousness out of NEED will take over propelling them to form a partnership, move back to Philly, purchase the now vacant pub and bring it back to its glory days of the past.

C. With the glue that held everyone together gone, the message board will be devastated, no more pub, no more conversing, too depressed to even reminisce.

D. WAIT A MINUTE, NO PUB--We can't even begin to imagine that!

--An 88 Class Member

Thursday, December 20, 2001 - 04:24:06 PM

Would you like; Melted or dry cheese? Hot sauce and sour cream on the side? Two of my favorite phrases at the pub while sipping a frosty one, watching a bowl game on the corner television and sitting next to Denny, Gloria, and Clancy. Whoooa! ~Avery

Friday, December 14, 2001 - 01:49:40 PM

Avery:

The concert I went to was Air Kraft in Amery with Pat Welsh & Jerry Litvinoff--the first time I ever got drunk. I didn't want to drink but Pat said he was going to beat the shit out of me if I didn't finish at least one beer before we got there. By the time we got there, my beer was piss warm, but Pat still made me drink it--he was seriously going to kick my ass.

The concert was great--I found a place behind the speakers (actually standing on the stage).

The ride home was a fucking nightmare--going about 110 down County Rd N in Kennan with Jerry behind the wheel just shithoused w/ Pat egging him to go a little faster.

Bo Duke--impressive Geoff Lake reference. Don't know what's more impressive--the fact you knew that or that you spelled his name (correctly) with a "G". By the way, Geoff played the keyboards and wrote most of the songs.

Hey, An 88 Class Member & All, I am back! It has almost been a month! And what a month it has been...busy, busy, BUSY! The busiest.

Well, '96 Hot-Tea & I just got back from a Christmas shopping spree in Eau Claire, where the Blugolds reign supreme. It was funny when I saw a sticker in a gum ball-type machine that said "My Bad."--I thought of some of you guys. Needless to say, I didn't try to win it! ; )

My big question of the day is, "Who is coming up so we can get this party started?" as Pink would similarly sing. My posse and I will be out on Saturday, December 22nd. Hot spots that just might be "sizzling" are the bowling alley in Phillips, Miller Time, Harbor View, The Dug Out, Meister's, or the streets of our dear Philly.--It really depends what the local attractions, (besides me & Hot-Tea, of course!), are that night. ; ) Anyone else going to be out then?

Hey, Bo Duke, when you mentioned Dean Grube....were you speaking of our Dean Grube or his father? Ours would be the one who graduated in '96, obviously.

Denali, how is your sister-in-law doing these days?--I hope all is well.

For whoever wrote at 9:57:53 a.m. today, you might like to know that it is no longer Kreiling...she's back to Lamping now.

"Hey" to the silent watcher on this page. My informant filled me in that you are here, so with that bit of info, you can probably figure out who I am.--I knew that he/she was going to tell you about our piece of the web. Shhh! I won't tell if you don't tell.

Cheerio for now! --'96QT : )

It's not important to have snow for Christmas. It's important to have plenty of beer available at the Stoney Pub for Christmas. It's important to have hot sauce/cheese and chips at the Pub for Christmas. It's important to keep the door and window slightly cracked to keep all the smoke out of the Pub for Christmas. It's important to see all the boys at the Pub for Christmas. It's important to hear Bill Elliott say, "Dry or melted?" at the Pub for Christmas. It's important to check out Sue Hlasny and Darlene Kreiling at the Pub for Christmas. It's important to listen to Turk Gura and Lorry Hanish at the Pub for Christmas. It's important to order a full order of fries at the Pub for Christmas.

Wouldn't be a true holiday without a stop in Phillips. I'm in~Avery.

All this holiday talk reminds of one of the funniest things I've seen in our beloved home town. About ten years ago I was at the Armory for one of the very first annual Winter Festival dances. There was a cover band playing whose name I can't remember, but which isn't important because they weren't that talented & probably broke up by now. Anyway, the lead singer takes the stage looks over the audience and wails into the mic HELLO PHILLIPS! As if he was a headliner at a big arena show. Who did he think he was Brett Michaels @ Alpine Valley? Hillarious, you had to be there to really appreciate it.

Monday, November 26, 2001 - 02:59:46 PM

I'd love to come home for X-mas, but it's not going to happen this year. This makes a for sure lock for next year. I'm hoping to know who 96QT is by then,,,,,,

Hey Mandark,,, remember last X-mas hanging out with Dean Grube??

Here is the question you ask either guardian: "If I ask the other guardian which button will save QT's life, which one will he/she say?" No matter what the answer, simply pick the other button.

I rule.

Society and the prejudices of others have conspired to make my trek home brief. I will only be in Philly the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Let's meet at the Harbor. I read in Zagats that "the Harbor was again voted the best place in town to see and be seen. Perhaps you are a chick just trying to catch a rough game of pool with some local mutants. Or a good ol' boy who has lost his way and longs to rub flannel elbows with some deer hunters. The Harbor is just the place for you."

An 88 Class Member: The answer is: C, I, E, D, (Yoo-Rah, Rah), F, H, B, & A (And then more yoo-rah, rah stuff!) Yeah, Loggers! Would you give them a hint about how to get me out of that jar?!

How about we answer the new question at the top: Currently, I like the Michael Jordan Hanes commercial, (hey, I had to mention it!) Otherwise, the one with Fergie and her daugther is cute...where she explains this wonderful fairy tale to her and then tells her that just in case prince charming never comes or leaves her, she needs to learn about financial stuff. What are some other good ones?

I tend to judge athletes by their talent level, not on their appearence. Leave it to a woman to say something like 96 Hot Tea did. However, no disrespect to 96QT as she is a fan of Michael Jordon, the best basketball player who has ever stepped on the court.

Hey Ya'll!

'96 Hot-Tea here. Being a poor Price County girl I cannot afford luxuries like computers. Probably a good thing - this site looks quite addicting! I must rely on my pal '96QT to provide me with computer stimulation. I don't recall seeing any of you at the '96 reunion, although I did see '87's brother, who happens to be my birthday buddy. You missed a good time! Glad to see all the trivia! I myself love 80's movies & music. Takes me back to my childhood! Someone mentioned The Breakfast Club - 3 of its stars were also in another movie together. Can anyone name it and them? Bo Duke - Why do you hate the Yankees? Is it because Jeter's hotter than you? Bet he can drink you and your buddy Captain Morgan under the table! Ha Ha!! Be good to each other!

Thursday, November 08, 2001 - 11:08:33 PM

Smurfette of course, guess who??

Thursday, November 08, 2001 - 08:40:46 PM

AVERY: I know what you mean! This message board tends to do that sometimes...it is worse than the stock market....really up and busy one week and then down with hardly any activity the next week. I think that '87 must be having an eventful week, because he usually has something to say to keep things going!

An 88 Class Member: Nice question.--Suddenly I am a genie in a bottle..."ya gotta rub me the right way!" ('96 Hot-Tea and I have a little dance number that goes with that song!) Why don't you answer this trivia, Avery?--Get me out of that jar. However, if '87 & MT/TM are the guardians, I might be stuck in that jar forever! ; )

Is anybody going to answer these questions that are being posed? Let's see, I liked Princess Leia, Yoda, & R2D2...Plus we cannot forget the cute Ewoks! Here's a new question....which smurf are you most like? "La la lala la la, la la la la la"...Great theme song!

WHERE DID EVERYONE GO? I FEEL LIKE I BROKE WIND AND EVERYONE LEFT THE ROOM.~AVERY

Wednesday, November 07, 2001 - 07:39:40 PM

EVERYONE:

How about this Logic/Brain Teaser Question:

Picture this:

96QT is trapped in a glass container. Outside of the container are two buttons, one on the left, and one on the right. One button will release 96QT and reveal her identity, the other will kill 96QT instantaneously and forever keep her identity a mystery to everyone.

There are two guardians--One guaradian always lies, and the other guardian always tells the truth. Each guardian knows the other guardians nature.

You are allowed to ask only one guardian only one question.

What is the one question that you can ask the guardian that will allow you to SAVE 96QT's life?

And once you have the answer to that question from the guardian--What button must you choose to save 96QT's life and thus reveal her identity?

I'm back! I was in beloved Phillips the past few days. No cheese & chips from the pub, just a soggy sub from AMOCO.

Yes, said to say, but Betty is not in the vitamin jar. Too bad as most of us males always preferred her over Wilma. Kinda like Mariane over Ginger.

Nothing rymes with month.

What a World Series!!! Diamondbacks are the best!! I was there to see it all!! Something I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Another brain teaser: If you went to Cinema North with 4 buds, and sat next to each other, how many combinations are there for the number of ways the 4 of you could sit in these seats?

Of course "Runaway" from Bon Jovi would still be playing.

WOW, what a world! I haven't been on here for a LONG time and it's way too much for me to read! My brain hurts just thinking about it and my aching back, ohh I'm too old! Remember when Friday night was a party at 508 or Johnny's? Life is good! ~Denali Hey, QT, thanks for the Halloween joke-funny!!

Friday, November 02, 2001 - 09:40:11 PM

Someday when we all meet in "Philly," we will have to hold our first semi-annual PAWA (Phillips Alumni Website Addicts) meeting! It will be complete with hot sauce cheese and chips (and prime rib for at least one of the attendees), lots of trivia & stories, and good cheer. By that time we will all be jobless, due to our lack of attention to our work duties with our attention focused here on the message board...MT/TM will be living in a VAN down by the river; '87 will no longer be hiding on Slowey's grandma's porch, but he will be taking up shelter there; Bo Duke will be burning his World Series tickets for heat; Butler will wish that he had sold my ID to the highest bidder; etc. You get the picture. I will be the first to raise my hand and admit, without guilt, "Hello, I am '96QT, and I am a Phillips Alumni Website Addict! I can no longer control my fingers or my web browser."

News Flash: Saturday (tomorrow) on NBC @ 5:30: Jordan vs. Iverson Don't forget to watch!--I'll be watching Jordan without a friend named Jordan.--I, too, have had experience with MT/TM, (um, doesn't telling someone "no do not go there" make them "go there?"), and he often likes to latch onto things that aren't clues while overlooking certain other things that definitely are clues. Then again, when he writes four sentences and mentions '96QT once in each of those sentences, he just melts away all my frustrations. --'96QT ; )

St. Pat here. Here's a good one. You all remember this, don't you?

*THE CLASS OF 2004 Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the Faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's incoming freshman. Here is this year's list: The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1982. They have no meaningful recollection of the Reagan Era and probably did not know he had ever been shot. They were prepubescent when the Persian Gulf War was waged. Black Monday, 1987 is as significant to them as the Great Depression. There has been only one Pope. They were 11 when the Soviet Union broke apart and do not remember the Cold War. They have never feared a nuclear war. They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up. Tianamen Square means nothing to them. Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic. Atari predates them, as do vinyl albums. The expression you sound like a broken record means nothing to them. They have never owned a record player. They have likely never played Pac Man and have never heard of Pong. They may have never heard of an 8 track. The Compact Disc was introduced when they were 1 year old. As far as they know, stamps have always cost about 33 cents. They have always had an answering machine. Most have never seen a TV set with only 13 channels, nor have they seen a black and white TV. They have always had cable. There have always been VCRs, but they have no idea what BETA was. They cannot fathom not having a remote control. They don't know what a cloth baby diaper is, or know about the Help me, I've fallen and I can't get up commercial. Feeling old Yet? There's more: They were born the year that Walkman were introduced by Sony. Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show. Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave. They have never seen Larry Bird play. They never took a swim and thought about Jaws. The Vietnam War is as ancient history to them as WWI, WWII and the Civil War. They have no idea that Americans were ever held hostage in Iran. They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are. They don't know who Mork was or where he was from. They never heard: here's the beef? I'd walk a mile for a Camel, or De plane, de plane! They do not care who shot J.R. and have no idea who J.R. was. The Titanic was found? They thought we always knew Michael Jackson has always been white. Kansas, Chicago, Boston, America, and Alabama are places, not rock bands. There has always been MTV. They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter. Do you feel old yet?

You know what is funny...almost all of you send me e-mails but the general theme is "don't tell the others."--Keep it on the down low. Why is this?! ; ) Bo didn't tell me not to mention it on the board, however; if I did wrong, sorry Bo! You guys are so funny.

Answer to new question on top of the page: I carved a pumpkin, (yeah, I'm a kid at heart; I admit it!)...Looks sort of like Alf meets Zorro or something!

MT/TM: So Slowey takes the three-point shot; huh? Well, isn't that just like you to be SO close to the correct answer but then quit there deciding it is good enough. If Bo Duke knew how close you were to figuring me out, he would be outraged at your lack of drive! I think a better visual would have been that Slowey takes one step back and STILL makes the HALF COURT shot, (as the fans jump to their feet with cheers)!

Not much activity here today; everyone must be working! Thanks, Bo, for the correspondence...It always brightens my day to have friendly e-mail messages.

St. Pat: So, this week you think my informant is female? Interesting. You guys used to think my informant was male. I'll tell you this much, you were correct one of those times! I figured you might think my informant is female since Simon said to eat soup, but guys say that, too.--Sweet guys bring girls soup when they are sick; right, Simon?! ; ) In fact, when I talked with my dad last night, he told me to eat soup, and he is a guy...or at least that is what my mom told me. Eek!--Bad picture forming; new topic!

Anyone see Michael "I am a bit older than the last time I played" Jordan last night? I only got to see it during the sports edition of the news, but I will definitely have to remember to watch his match-up against Iverson on Saturday night. Any thoughts on his return to the court? If I could go back in time, I'd have to say I'd time my trip into an empty Scott Wirth U.S. History room, so I could have escape unseen with the U.S. History final answer sheet. However, a classmate that I will keep unnamed, but knows who they are, happen to see me go in, and that was about all that needed to happen for about 7/8 of the entire class to have the answers. I had to give her the answers to keep her mouth shut, but she just happen to tell a few friends.

I'd also go back and bitch slap J.B. for dropping a cheat sheet in the hall that Mrs. Laurila found, and turned into Scott Wirth. This of course was the start of the downfall to one of the biggest U.S. history final scams to date. So many people in our class were so quick to start pointing fingers. It was pretty sad.

Question number one - if I had one year to live, I would have gone outside and helped Lorry Hanish chisel the frozen egg off the windows back in '86. Question number two - I would sprint like a madman and save my piano solo tape which earned me a starred first. Here are what others from this site would probably save:

Mandark:Cheech and Chong tape (ballcrusher jeans...heh, heh)
MT/TM:Basketball shoe collection
Avery:First tin of Cope or FryDaddy

Hey, Everyone! Well, I didn't have time on the 30th to post a message at our little playground here, but I had to be the first to wish everyone a happy Halloween! If all you guys would be in Phillips tonight we could go trick or treating as Snow White (me) and the Seven Dwarfs (you guys)! Just imagine the mountain of candy we would collect. : )

As for all these questions of the day, if I was going to die in a year, I think I would max out all my credit cards with stuff for me, family, & friends (okay, probably not); get a cocker spaniel; go talk to an old friend; and give up my identity to most all of you people! I don't think I would change much of high school at all, except for maybe a few things I won't discuss here.--I'd change more stuff at college, though. If my house burned, (funny choices, by the way), I would have to save the orange shorts, but more so grab all my pictures, my journals, and my grandpa's hat that I inherited...I can't forget my teddy bear. And I'd want my car keys!

Speaking of Bon Jovi, you all would be so impressed with my collection of '80's tunes.--A little Bon Jovi, Top Gun soundtrack, Aerosmith, collections of '80's hits, etc. One of my favorite songs is early 80's, "Centerfold." I love that song!

I should get some rest. I am getting a bit of a sore throat. Simon said, "Eat chicken soup." So, I did; it had a few bones in it, but otherwise it was good.

88 - I agree, "Breakfast Club" was a fantastic movie - "Sixteen Candles" must be included, as well. The Slowey question intrigues me. I think that if he were wearing a pair of hi-top Nikes, he would take fewer steps to the hole because they were lighter. However, if he were wearing the Converses, he would have them untied and fall even more frequently on his way to the hole - as they are heavier than his Nikes. St. Pat

Someone should give Bo Duke a technical for his lack of strategy in this game.

'96QT's the name; Don't mess with my game. Once you meet me, you'll never be the same! ; )

Speaking of, the Class Reunion Page reunion would be great for Christmas season. First, I will need my much-awaited Skyline prime rib dinner, which will be followed by the unveiling of MT/TM's orange shorts (& accessories). If there happens to be any boys' b-ball action that night, we all need to meet there to take in a game, (just to see if there are any Mike Johnson's on the court this year...Isn't he a PHS basketball legend or something?--That's just what I've heard. The guys will have to bear with me while I run a few of the "sweaty butt," "Mr. Pretty Legs," and "shotgun vs. rifle" contests which we spoke of on this message board months ago but must have been lost during that server problem or deleted "to conserve space" in The Archives.--Then again, the players must be pretty young by now, even for me. I'll merely have to do a comparative analysis of '88, '96, & '02...I think I can't get in trouble if it is for a scientific study! While I am doing that, Avery may want to see if the poms' coach is up to par this year.) After that, I guess we'll have to head to the Pub, (mainly for '87 who seems to have a special attachment to the stone statues). Once '96QT starts to feel a bit out of her element, we'll swing by the Harbor (I'm sure Butler would appreciate that), and then it's off to Miller Time we go, (only if there's a DJ); otherwise, we finish off at the Midway (since '96QT has never been there--Can you believe that, MT/TM?) or 3-mile...whichever place you all prefer; I'm flexible. What do you say, Boyz?--(This statement does not exclude the Girlz!) And this paragraph certainly doesn't exclude my informant, '88, '96 Hot-Tea, or Denali.

Trivia: I think it was ‘96's freshman year...Everyone was in homeroom, not listening to the morning announcements, much to the dismay of Mrs. Laurila. A group of people were goofing around, and woops!, the lever on one of the adjustable chairs accidentally broke! This person burst out laughing, put the lever and the screws on the floor next to the chair, and the group of people left in pure innocence. The next day, Mrs. Laurila went off, reprimanding this person, telling he/she that he/she would never amount to anything if he/she continued not to admit to breaking chairs! The entire group involved was supposed to "come clean" about what truly happened, which mainly meant blaming this person for something that truly wasn’t his/her fault. Who was this person? A. Tammie Bleck B. Justin Drljaca C. Shannon Boho D. Josh Sorvala E. Jessica Tom

The one bit of '80's trivia I could certainly answer has been answered before I had a chance to respond! Bo, St. Pat -- great stuff, by the way. I haven't laughed so hard since watching Ace through baseball-sized spitwads on the chalkboard and then looking straight forward with those monsterous eyes with such fear yet innocence at the same time. He looked like he would shit his drawers if he ever got caught--which he never did, of course.

Ace is a true legend of Phillips School District.

We're going to have a toast to ACE at the booze fest we're going to have with Butler.

ACE, maybe you can even be there?

Wow,, a lot has gone on today. My first trip here today, and it's already 2:35pm.

An 88 class member -- You seem to be more intriqued with my identity more than 96QT is. Not too sure why,,,, I've been in the Phillips School district as long as I can remember. By the way, thanks for the St. Pat correction with my name.

St. Pat -- I'm can't believe that you referred to me as Tom Wopat. Was always a big fan of the Dukes of Hazzard. Can't remember how many times Daisy made me put Bobo in a choke hold. Plus I can't remember how many bushes I drove through thinking I could jump it several hundred feet.

St. Pat-I'm within the 3 hour radius so we'll have to plan accordingly. Everyone meet at the Harbor over one of the main holidays coming up? Works for me, during the winter I always get a little stir crazy sitting around the folk’s house when I come up to visit!

While I didn't know Tom Wopat grew up in Lodi, I do know that Heather Graham is from Milwaukee...should have transferred!*L* - Butler

Thursday, October 25, 2001 - 08:50:29 AM

Butler, by the way, we wouldn't make you pay for drinks. We have real jobs, honest. Plus, you know how cheap beer is in Phillips.

Thursday, October 25, 2001 - 08:47:56 AM

Well, kids, St. Pat is here, and just want to let you know that the 88 crew and older would remember my multiple choice question pretty well. Here are the answers: Pa Jones wore the hat for square (we called it 'squeer') dancing. Grace wore the flour-sack undies as a youngster (she actually told us). Peterson wore corduroy every day (not the wide-channel, either). Dr. Nelson was the Old Spice man; I think he bathed in it. No one in this group had the need for the telephone-strength cable underwire brassiere. That's another different question in itself.

Later, St. Pat

PS - Hey, Butler - QT's got it all wrong. We are not going to fill you with beer and things, then expect you to tell us. Sorry to assume, but we thought you would cough up her ID first, and we'd all meet in P-town to "rock the casbah." Now there's an eighties phrase if I ever heard one. Let us know where you live and see if it is possible. Most of the posters here live within 3 hours or so of Philly, but as for Bo Duke - we are not sure about the id of that person. You know, Bo Duke (AKA Tom Wopat) actually grew up in Lodi, Wisconsin. No bullshit.

Wednesday, October 24, 2001 - 09:58:20 PM

Bo Duke, Thanks for the response and additional info. pertaining to my question. However, I wasn't only referring to the question that I had asked you, but also the question that someone else had asked you--As to what class you graduated in, really now, was it 88 or when? Also did you attend the Phillips School District (Phillips, Kennan, Catawba Schools) Elementary through High School or did you move to the area during one of those years?

Avery or whomever posted the Trivia: I am inclined to agree with 96QT, wasn't the flour sack underwear reference to Mrs. Kielsmeier?

EVERYONE: Halloween memories: I remember in the Elementary School the big fuss over who was going to bring in the pumpkin, and who was going to carve it, etc. Also I remember one costume day in high school where a couple class members dressed up in KKK costumes. It still surprises me that most if not all of the teachers allowed it.

Wednesday, October 24, 2001 - 05:26:12 PM

Funny stuff, Avery: Wasn't Gracie the one who wore the flour-sack underwear when she was little? Corduroy and/or Old Spice was Mr. Nelson. I wasn't around for Pa Jones. And I'll give the hat to Mr. Peterson. Is any of that correct?

To all of you who began reuniting at the "other" message board and who never posted anything remotely vulgar or illegal, this is quite interesting....Remember how The-Bee (and a few people who visited The-Bee's web site) did not like some of the "vulgar," "illegal," etc. comments that were made by some of us lovely people? So they implemented that stupid sign-in policy, and instead of the few people being mad about some colorful comments back then, now it seems that most everyone has quit posting entirely AND one person, "Mayflower," had this to say about The-Bee's message board system: "Um, no disrespect to anyone, but this website is now just as boring as the paper has become. I've got an idea. For costume, unrelated to Halloween, match the article of choice to the following PHS faculty member.......... Old Spice cologne so thick you saw fog.....reference to flour-sack underwear when little.....constantly corduroy.....red, shiny cowboy hat....an underwire bra so strong, you could use the cable at the telephone company (one of these is designed to throw you off)

Match 'em up, kids -- Mrs. Kielsmeier/Mr. Jones/Mr. Nelson/Mr. Peterson

Did somebody say brains!?! --Mandark

Wednesday, October 24, 2001 - 02:34:28 PM

'87: You told Butler that you all could "rub up against the cement figures at the Park."--Please keep your personal life to yourself!!! Then again, my cousin did get a little too personal with the toad stone statues one night and I forgave her! --'96QT ; )

Wednesday, October 24, 2001 - 02:17:06 PM

Hey, I know where ACE got his bloody-knuckling talent from...his father. He was the meanest CCD teacher. In third grade at St. Greg's - not St. Grg's, either - he pulled Jeff Peterson by his butch haircut. No lie. Right off the chair. Painful. About as painful as QT is right now after Butler's mouth is watering. Butler, not only will you dine at Le Pub de Stone, rub up against the cement figures at the Park, shoot some pool w/the boys at Birch Island, crow some karaoke w/Dudley and LisaLisa amid the smoke at the Harbor, play a bit of cribbage at Northern Lights, eat a pickled egg or two at Meisters, spit beverages out of your nose because you are laughing so hard, but you may also share a haystack with a few mentioned on this page while viewing a "set of brains" you'll never forget. 96 thinks she has the brains in her class...the mid/late 80's crew knows who "has the brains." St. Pat --

Wednesday, October 24, 2001 - 12:28:41 PM

Butler, You were not misdirected in "the final stretch," you just need to give it a little more brain power!!!!!!!!!!! THE INFORMANT

Wednesday, October 24, 2001 - 12:17:54 PM

'87, Butler is too much of a gentleman to sell out like that; he respects the game of "Who is '96QT." And don't you think he would deserve a better prize than that?! Come on, he figured it out in four months....You & MT/TM have taken about 19 months and are still going! Ask Butler, it is easier than you are making it out to be. As for the "major props," I knew you would pick up on that and have a comment!!

Bo Duke, I'll have to think about e-mailing you. But right now...gotta go!

--'96QT : )

Wednesday, October 24, 2001 - 12:10:10 PM

Yeah Whadya say Butler- Cheese & Chips @ Stoney Pub, A little nine ball with Mandark and St Pat @ Northern Lights, Karaoke w/ Lisa Lisa @ the Harbor, and a night cap at Meister's. What could be more fun than that? ~Avery

Wednesday, October 24, 2001 - 08:34:35 AM

QT, "major props," huh? I think the urban dialect has finally hit Phillips. You definitely are a product of the nineties. The only way we had uttered that phrase in the 80's was when we were commenting like this: "In order to pull three skiers, Tim Gehrke's boat needed to have major props." --- Word, St. Pat

Wednesday, October 24, 2001 - 06:46:11 AM

Yes, while I may have jumped the gun with my previous post, I now at least have gotten it straightened out. Although I think I was misdirected in the final stretch. – Butler

Bo Duke, Sorry, I forgot to answer before...No, your answer to my trivia question wasn't correct. Please try again! : ) You want more trivia from me?--Are you missing me?!

Everyone: It is time to give BUTLER some credit. While his first guess was wrong, he did have me narrowed down to two people (with very little help from me), and now he knows the truth. I give him major props for the effort he put into it. He got farther than some others because he didn't cheat, use outside help, or tell anyone the clues I have already told him.--Pay attention to those last few words, MT/TM & '87...Don't be breaking the rules here!! : )

QT96 -- By the way, was I right about your little trivia question??

88 Class member -- I grew up in both areas of Phillips, and the "Twin Cities."

I'm guessing that QT96 doesn't have a job where she is next to a computer all day. Otherwise this thing would be plump full of crazy PHS trivia that nobody knows.

Looking back,,, I miss the greasy donuts, the shakes, and leftover pizza slices for lunch.

Tuesday, October 23, 2001 - 12:00:45 PM

Did anyone read my posting from yesterday (Monday, October 22) @ 8:55:13 PM. Butler is not the god you all think he is....He guessed my identity, but he got it WRONG!! I should be getting treated to prime rib dinners by all of you...MT/TM, Butler, '87, etc. '87, I thought you & the Eastside Kid were "playing it dumb...kind of like we did in high school."--Yeah, right...I knew from the beginning that the only narrowing down you had done was what I had done for you two.--Lionite Park is as close as you have come to figuring me out! Mandark, funny stuff about the Z-Man (Zellinger), but you shouldn't pick on those underappreciated and overworked English teachers!!! ; )

As for open block, (which '96 was the last class to receive), here should be the trivia. 7th hour open block was good for: A. Convincing a very tired study hall monitor that one of '96QT's friends had actually made the honor roll and was able to have open block...which wasn't true, but we pulled it off! B. Staying in school, not leaving, because there was too much fun to be had C. Eating cake in the balcony with a group of friends while the gym class played floor hockey D. Getting hollered at by Mrs. Gernaey in the library for being too noisy..."Turn off that walkman!"--Yeah, whatever. E. Videotaping--I'll leave it at that! F. All of the above

Hey Mandark, You may be surprised at how much QT knows!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She may even have thrown a few of you a curve ball now and then!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing inaccurate, just a little tricky to figure out sometimes!!!!!!!! THE INFORMANT

Tuesday, October 23, 2001 - 10:43:22 AM

Hey, does anyone remember the english teacher Laddy Zellinger? I partied him last weekend at the Westwood attending the Czech Fest Volunteer Dinner. (You want to talk about WILD PARTIES! WOW, there were some wild old Czechoslovakian women there--a disco ball and a little X and I think we might have seen some tops coming off. I haven't seen so many Lutherans since St. John's at Christmas) OK, so I didn't party with Laddy--but we did make eye contact, I and could tell he wanted to party. OK, maybe I couldn't tell. Maybe the look on his face was one of horror when he realized who I was and how much hell I raised in his boring English class. (I get sleepy just thinking about it). --Mandark

Tuesday, October 23, 2001 - 10:30:57 AM

Hey Bo, nice to have you aboard. I see it hasn't taken you long to realize that the big mystery here is QT's identity. Are you willing to admit your whereabouts? If you live in Phillips maybe you can be the inside track to finding QT. Let us know. --Mandark

Ah yes,,,, open block. Used to have it 7th. period,,, how I loved going home at 2:40pm everyday.

QT96 -- I believe the answer to your trivia question is C. Just a hunch. I'm an 88 grad., no wait, '89,,, or '90. I forgot,, or could it be '91 or '92?? Man, it's been so long,, I know it's one of those years.

St. Pat -- Do I know you??

Everyone -- Who are Butler, Mandark, Avery, An 88 Class Member, MT/TM, 87 Compadre, and Denali? I guess I need to spend some time here, and read some old messages. This will be fun to figure everybody out. Talk to you soon.

Bo Duke

Tuesday, October 23, 2001 - 08:16:26 AM

Open block? Was it around in '88? Definitely not for '87. Wow. Anyway, I think QT is "feeling the heat." Butler, get a hold of Bo Duke, Avery, or Mandark, and they will e-mail me. I think all the people I mentioned before will chip in for a night of food and drink at the Stoney Pub for you. If you can survive the smoke, that is. You just need to open the window nearest the door a crack, and you will be fine. Anyway, I don't know if you are looking for more than that - you need to know that the food there is worth its weight in gold anyway. Then again, we have someone on the "inside" working for us to clear up this caper. Thanks, Bo.

WOW!--We had a web site explosion today. I love it! Here are all my responses:

Everyone: Whoever takes Butler's offer to purchase my ID for the highest price better ask for a guarantee, because you are getting a bad deal!

Butler: Check your e-mail box, Buddy! I out-foxed you. I WIN!! After you read that e-mail, tell me, are you kicking yourself? Answer my e-mail and I can explain all the more. I'm glad you actually posted on the board, though!--Keep it up!

Bo Duke: Daisy Duke welcomes you to the message board!! Seriously, glad to see you are here. I'm not sure where you are hearing all these wonderful rumors from, but keep them coming! Do you know who I am or are you just speculating?! What year did you graduate from PHS?

TRIVIA: Who dressed up as the Doublemint siamese twins as their 8th grade Halloween costume? A. Tammie Bleck & Micky Staroba B. Melvin & Martin Helgeson C. Amy & Laura Szarowicz D. Brenda Hrabak & Lance Kornuth

QT, who are the Three Amigos? --Mandark

Monday, October 22, 2001 - 12:42:07 PM

"Three Amigos" - how were the hot sauce/cheese and chips on Friday night? I made some myself that night, but it wasn't the same. Could you cut the smoke and cheap perfume in the Harbor View with a knife? What about the pickled eggs at Meisters? Did our boy from the eastern part of the state decide to drag you over to three-mile? Please inform me as to the itinerary. It's killing me - kind of like Terry's pants. I was just introduced to this website by a friend. As a fellow PHS grad, I wish greetings to all, especially QT96. Looks like she's got the handle on everything that goes on around here, and seems to be extremely knowledgeable about certain Alumni. Rumor is, she's very smart, extremely good looking & sexy, and not a lot of people know who she is. I think it's time for some fun,,,,, --Bo Duke--

Thursday, October 18, 2001 - 11:38:49 PM

Hey, October 18th!--Where's the code name? From the comment, perhaps you are Mandark. Anyway, my Logger visions were truly of any of the prominent high schoolers who were SO MUCH OLDER THAN ME as a little elementary schooler. And the basketball players were always more my cup of tea than the football players. I'm not sure if it was better ball-handling or what! (Hey, get your mind out of the gutter!) Sorry, I never focused on golf much, but regardless, '96 HOT TEA and I do not prefer the burly, hairy guys...well, at least I still don't! (Picture Will from Big Brother 2...hairless is better!) --'96QT : )

Thursday, October 18, 2001 - 01:50:09 PM

QT, I hate to burst your bubble, but some of us on this page played golf and had no body hair. Your visions of the Loggers came from the burly footballers who shaved once a week instead of once a quarter.

Wednesday, October 17, 2001 - 10:11:29 PM

'87: While you all were watching the Classes of the late '70's during Homecoming, you have to remember that I was watching the Classes of the mid-to-late 80's,(you guys!), when I was in the elementary school! To me, you guys literally were "THE LOGGERS!" Of course, my perception changed once I got to high school, but for a time you all did have your glory days according to us '96er's!! : )

--'96QT ; )

Tuesday, October 16, 2001 - 08:48:07 PM

I remember in the Elementary School, when the Middle School used to practice marching. As soon as you could hear them coming, everyone in class would get up in the middle of the teachers lesson and run to the window to watch them go by. Hey that was exciting stuff for an Elementary kid!--An 88 Class Member

Tuesday, October 16, 2001 - 12:51:15 AM

HAH! I just read whoever posted the message at 3:40 PM to me, and then this comes on Jay Leno's Headlines: "Back-To-School Special: Pregnancy Test Strip!" However, I don't agree with you, oh cynical one...The middle school isn't that bad--perhaps we just need better teachers sculpting our youth?!!

'87--You're at home mixing ice cream & Barq's, and I should get out more? Were your float building days un-adventuresome? Geez, we always had something happening, like the goofy antics of our crazy, cross-dressing friends, Mike & Kevin, one night.--Funny stuff and on film for posterity!

Hey, I'm up for the all-class reunion any day! : )

--'96QT

Monday, October 15, 2001 - 03:38:31 PM

There should be an all-class reunion at the Stoney Pub pretty soon. If they are not open - Sandwiches, LTD.

Monday, October 15, 2001 - 02:06:57 PM

Sorry, all, I'm on a roll here. I remember getting let out of elementary school at 1:30 to watch the parade. When I was in fourth grade, somebody ran ahead of the group and Mrs. Smart just blew a gasket at the kid. No recess for a whole week. May have been Rob Michek because his dad's surveying/abstract company was right there by the "Blue Note" and Muellings' house. Great memory. St. Pat ('87) Class of '88 - do you remember the same types of homecoming scenarios - out at 1:30 and a boatload of candy thrown at you by the classes of '79-'82?

Monday, October 15, 2001 - 01:58:31 PM

QT - you need to get out a little more. Maybe you need to choose your Friday nights a bit better. Asking some of us "thirtysomethings" about building floats...? The only floats I make nowadays are with Barq's and ice cream. Come to think of it, that brings back a great Skyline memory. We'd hit the Homecoming game - and hide in the bushes by old Hwy 100 (by Plating). As soon as the opposing team's school bus would hang a left after the stop sign to go back to Park Falls/Ashland/Lakeland/Northland Pines, we'd pelt the snot out of it. Someone brought that memory up a couple weeks ago at a Phillips wedding, and my beer almost shot out of my nose. There were about four or five of us doing it, and we'd run back to our cars in Tannery Town, laughing and running. Try that sometime. It is tough to run as fast as you can while laughing. It was also difficult to throw and laugh, as well. I'm glad you brought up the homecoming memory. St. Pat

~AVERY, Hmm, although I do not recall for sure which classes float had "BFD" on it, but if I were to make a guess I would guess that it would have been B. 88, as it sounds clever enough to be something our class would have done.

Okay Everyone More Trivia:

The phrase "Class of 88 is Great" was A: Written all over the chalk boards in Mrs. Roberts room as a clue as to who "The Cherries" were B. Was stitched on the back pockets of a fellow classmate C. Was spray painted behind the school on the brick wall as a prank D. Was written by hand all over the crepe paper that was on the Class of 88's homecoming float E. Was scratched into the concrete foundation of the new middle school during its construction or F. None of the above.

AVERY: Thanks for trying to guess my trivia; with so many 80's people on here, my '90's trivia almost never gets answered. See, I am so glad I invited you over! ; ) Anyway, the actual answer is my class, the Class of '96! But you get "cool points" for trying! Some of us '96ers went to the Homecoming game the year after we graduated and asked why all the floats were there, and one of the younger kids was all, "What do you mean? It's tradition." Well, I'm glad we started it! The administration must have realized we had a good idea after all.

CLUE for BUTLER, '87, & MT/TM: I had the same homeroom teacher as MT/TM. Oh, that doesn't help Butler much!...BUTLER, I will e-mail you something separate. Also, BUTLER, post something...From the e-mails you send me, I know you are reading this board, so put some trivia here or something...pretty please?! (No, I am not getting ornery with you!!) ; )

Hey all, It looks like we have some active trivia going--Keep up the excellent work!

Speaking of vehicles people drove, remember all of the underclassman jumping into all the upperclassman's cars for a ride to the parade. Some of them were packed in tighter than sardines.

At PHS which girl tried out for football and was put on the team? A. Mary Pat Prohaska B. Laura Volkman C. Kim Kolnlik D. Laura Takala or E. None of the Above

--An 88 Class Member

Tuesday, October 09, 2001 - 11:44:39 AM

'96QT - Correct, it was Rick. I would guess the answer to yours is either '94 or '95, probably '95. ~Avery

Which class got in trouble for putting the letters BFD on their homecoming float, even thougn they claimed it was an acronym for Big Football Day? A)'89 B)'88 C)'87 D)'86

Monday, October 08, 2001 - 05:36:00 PM

TRRRAAAAACCCYYYYY!!! (Hey, '96 Hot Tea, remember that?--A little too soon to forget, I guess. Just another one of those older guys hitting on us younger girls again.) But the answer has to be Rick Kilty; am I right?--Tracy would have been far too young, and Rick is the one into cars now so he must have been then too.

Here's some Homecoming Trivia: It is now commonplace for the floats to journey to the football field after the parade. However, it wasn't always like that. The first class to do so (without permission) got in major trouble and its class officers had to apologize to all the other classes' officers for doing such an unthinkable thing as having school spirit! Which class was the initiators of this now "tradition?" A. '94 B. '96 C. '98 D. '95 E. '88 F. '87

--'96QT : )

First time I heard 'Summertime Girls' was in Jason Kraiss' huge cruiser car. Some type of Buick I believe.~Avery

Speaking of automobiles, a little trivia. When monster trucks were all the rage, who had the mother of all jacked up big tire pick-ups A)Tracy Kilty B) Rick Kilty C) Tim Kilty.

Monday, October 08, 2001 - 08:59:41 AM

Got ditched my junior year by a senior, two weeks before homecoming. Got the courage to ask someone else out, a "sure thing," as we called it back then. Had a great time at the dance, took the long way home (she had the car), and I didn't "close the deal." If we all knew then what we know now...

Saturday, October 06, 2001 - 08:29:39 PM

More Trivia:

In Mrs. Kielsmeier's room what prank(s) went on? A. Mace was sprayed into the air B. A raw egg was thrown into the side of the chalkboard C. All the chairs were tipped upside down D. Rubber cement was poured onto the books in the bookshelf rendering the books unusable E. A and B or F. None of the above

LIZZY: They are back to "frigid Friday nights" ever since the "Lights on the Loggers" occurred, which means they got enough money to light the new field for once! Where in Southern Wisconsin is your husband from? Not to offend our Northern Wisconsin men, and not saying that your husband should not respect our little town, but I do tend to believe that WI men born and bred south of an imaginary line drawn somewhere a few hundred miles below Marshfield seem to have more substance than most (not all) others, so I'm sure we can all overlook his distaste for Sandwiches! : )

As for my past week, it has been fun and eventful. I was at a wedding and have done a bunch of other cool things, plus, I have eaten two prime rib dinners this week!--Not a bad deal! None were provided by MT/TM; however, you won't hear me complaining about my dinner companions on either of those two nights!

--'96QT ; )

Thursday, October 04, 2001 - 11:32:44 PM

Lizzy: Hmm your husband doesn't care for the food at Sandwiches--as compared to what? To a gourmet meal, or to a McDonalds or a Hardees or some other fast food place? Oh well we all have different tastes. I don't think he's too worried about losing you over a difference of opinion on Sandwiches! Tell him though to give the Northwoods another chance, we do have our own little class of charm here.

My goodness...I stay away for a few weeks, and the place just explodes! At least it doesn't look like I missed much. Just figured I'd stick my head in and see who's around...sounds like there are some new "faces".

Life is good here in MI (lower, not upper). The farm is taking shape, the llamas are on their way in a month, and the new job is progressing. However, bars here are few and far between, and there is no hot sauce cheese and chips! That, and way too much of the cheese comes from New Jersey.

Alas...I am looking forward to coming to WI for the weekend, but won't make it as far north as Phillips. That's an extra-long trip and it'll probably be a while before my southern-WI hubby can be coerced up there again. Can you believe he insulted the food at Sandwiches? Is that grounds for divorce? j/k

Stay warm! Are they still playing football games on Saturday afternoons, or are they back to frigid Friday nights? Hey, at least it was a good ruse to go out parking...as long as you checked the score before heading home!

From the land of the trolls...Lizzy '90

I see we have a new question above, so I guess a Homecoming Trivia question may be in order:

If memory serves me correctly one of the class of 88's floats for one of the four years--took a tumble into a ditch on its way from where it was being built. Which year was it? A. Freshman B. Sophomore C. Junior or D. Senior

--An 88 Class Member

Thursday, September 27, 2001 - 06:11:22 PM

Hey! Ya wanna break into the old middle school this weekend? I drove by and took a look for you; (oh, how I want to be an accessory to this crime)! : ) It looks more secure these days with the renovations '88 spoke of. However, if the shorter one stands on top of the taller one's shoulders, perhaps you two could get inside through those upper, left-hand side, front broken windows. Bring a rope so that the shorter one can hoist up the taller one afterwards. Or, before you go through all that, maybe you should try the front door first!...Then I'll try to find the time to visit you both in jail!

By the way, I am so impressed with the activity here lately. Picture this if you will: The Year, 2061, (yes, '87, you'll still be alive...think positive!); The Place, PHS Class Reunion Message Board...& our favorite nursing homes! We'll still all be coming back to this page, now unable to drive our vehicles unless we sit on a few books and use some high-powered binoculars to see. AN 88 CLASS MEMBER will still be doling out the trivia, BUTLER will still think he has "just three people to go to figure out who '96QT is," '87's bones will settle and it just won't be as easy to dunk those baskets, THE INFORMANT still won't have a clue, MANDARK will be playing Dungeons & Dragons, AVERY will be tuned into "The Mickey Mouse Club" reruns thinking they are singing about him, DENALI will be "very wealthy and very happy," MT/TM will wheel on over to '96QT's room to FINALLY buy her the prime rib dinner he promised her...he'll be wearing the orange shorts because (unlike some) '96QT keeps her promises, & '96 HOT TEA will be having wheelchair races down the hall with '96QT. '96QT, of course, will still be a sassy little flirt/tease! And life will still be good.
