Happy birthday to An 88 Class Member! --'96QT :-)
Happy 2009, Everyone! :-) --'96QT
I won't comment on the full full full full moons that night...but that party was fun! Great to see old friends after so long!! 'nonymous
So, how was the Class of 1988 reunion? I've heard some stories....For example, instead of one moon circling the Earth that night, there were a few extras on the deck at Harbor. Got any stories to post here? :-) --'96QT :-)
True with the numbers, even though the weather was not the greatest. As for the midway, I have never seen so much duct tape holding things together on hte rides and games.--Mike Zaves
Oh, yeah, the commercial building was SUPER sad. They have to fix that for sure. There were large crowds of people there, though, and probably the most rides/games in a LONG time. --'96QT :-)
The ride breaking, the problems at the rodeo, the Commercial building was almost empty, seemingly a big reduction in the number of entries, just seemed in general to be a dying enterprise with little that would present Price County in a positive light.-- Mike Zaves
What chaos? The fair was very nice last year. Or are you referring to the ride breaking? Regardless, the fair is mid-August this year. --'96QT :-)
Was there any fallout from the chaos that was the Price County Fair last year? Is the fair going to happen, and if so when? Thx. --Mike Zaves
...Or maybe I should just put a $30.00 lien on MT/TM's house to collect on that promise. Ha, ha. --'96QT :-)
Sno, you are welcome. Congrats to the Zaves. And, Lizzy, the same things are happening in Phillips as always happened. :-) Hope everyone is enjoying the summer, even though it is a bit cooler than usual. If you are a Class of '88er, remember to send in your reunion response & money! And someone needs to tell MT/TM that he needs to order an extra prime rib dinner for a certain someone he once promised one to! He, he. --'96QT :-)
For those who know my brother Mark Zaves, just a note letting everyone know that he is a daddy again. He and Crystal had another little boy, Cameron. Mike Zaves
OOPS, 96, didn't mean to overlooking thanking ya for the b-day jingle... you know I've still got frozen fingers and can't type well with mittens on. THANKS A BUNCH!!!!!! ***SNO~***
Wow... kinda quiet in here? Everyone suffering from "spring fever"???*****SNO**** What's the update on the Reunion, btw??
Anything interesting happening in Philly this summer? ~Lizzy
SNO! Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Sno, happy birthday to you! I hope you have a great day! --'96QT :-)
Lizzy, It was good through the 90's. Some time around the turn of the century the lockers went neutral. Ah, the tragedy! :-) No need for sheep or llamas at this time. --'96QT :-)
The lockers are all the same color? And a neutral, besides?!? What's the fun of that?!? Even my sheep (Icelandic) aren't all one neutral color. It was much easier with the freshman to tell them "the orange hall" instead of "Senior hall" until they figured out who the seniors were. Guess things have really gone downhill since the 80s. Or maybe freshman have gotten smarter? Hey - anybody wanna buy some sheep? Or llamas? ~Lizzy
awwwww... shucks :) ****SNO**** (we just have to do what we can to kick start the board now, huh??)
Feel free to post your memories here as trivia, SNO, to get this placing busy again. The problem is that a lot of the guys who posted here regularly years ago got married, are fathers, and can't find the time now! That's not a problem for them but it's a problem for the board! I hear they do read it from time to time at least! :-) I had the web designer fix your birthday. And, yep, I want the SNOW to go away, too, but the SNO can stay! He, he. --'96QT :-)
Ohhhh how funny.. I was just reading back in the "history" of the messages... how's this for funny... Who had "that certain teacher" during a certain later-in-the-day class when Barry Heizler got taped to his desk when he fell asleep??? (How did she miss that??) Ohhhh the memories I haven't shared or thought about for soooo long.. it's all coming back to me now.. ***SNO***
Hey.. someone just made me a day older than I really am... My bday is on the 29th!! (But thanks for remembering me!). It would be silly to say I'm sick of SNOW already, but I AM!! Hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter. Looking forward to that reunion... do we have a date yet???? I need to give enough Vacation notice to get time off from my many responsibilities. ****SNO~*******
88~ I will be there (going to leave the bells behind though!!) You just have to make sure you let me know where/when. ***SNO***
Hi All, Thanks for the Birthday wishes. Yes, 20 years, where did the time go? SNO, you put your attendance at the reunion in writing, we all are going to have to hold you to that!!!! --An 88 Class Member
P.S. Hey 88.. Happy Belated Bday :) the sno never forgets just remembers a bit later... ****SNO~***
P.S. Hey 88.. Happy Belated Bday :) the sno never forgets just remembers a bit later... ****SNO~***
OK, I'm soooo looking forward to the reunion this summer. I've been on my own planet for the last 20+ years, so it'll be nice to see a few familiar (?) faces. I do need the invite this time, because believe it or not I will not remember. (I'm going to blame it on sniffing the papers after they came from the copier like in Fast Times...yeah, we all did, just some more than others, right???)
**********Let it SNOOOOOOOOOOOOO**** Let it SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO******Let it SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
sno_whyte
And, yes, those WERE the locker colors, Phanton '86. They are all now one neutral color. How boring! :-) --'96QT
Well, I wished Avery a happy birthday yesterday via e-mail, and I want to say "Happy Valentine's Day" to you all, plus a big shout out for an upcoming birthday on Feb. 21 to An 88 Class Member. --'96QT, a fellow February Birthday girl! :-)
The locker colors wer orange, yellow, green and blue. -Phantom '86
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Here's a question....What has changed since most of us graduated high school? A. The fact that Dan Slowey no longer breaks into the teacher's lounge B. The basketball team just hasn't been the same since the days of Mike Johnson C. The colors of the lockers D. The paintings that now adorn many of the classroom walls E. All of the above BONUS: What color were the lockers back then and what color(s) are they now? What sayings/paintings are now on the walls? --'96QT :-)
Happy New Year, Everyone!!! May 2008 be full of blessings and adventures! ~ Lizzy
Maybe Mike's dad or someone called in to correct it, because they mentioned this week that they had made an error. Imagine that, The-Bee making a mistake! :-) Hope everyone is enjoying the touch of snow. --'96QT :-)
Your memory is the same as mine, 'bote . . . but the ever-diligent Bee reported it as Clemson! At least they got the first letter and last two letters right. ~ Lizzy
I believe Mike J signed with Creighton(sp?) and was there for a year before transferring to UWEC 'bote
Here's a Trivia Question that came to mind after reading this week's Bee online: For what university did Mike Johnson sign on to play college basketball?!?
Things that have NOT changed at Homecoming since we were in high school: 1. The Loggers LOST! --'96QT 2. Floats are taken to the game; this one is for classes prior to '96 (thanks to the Class of 1996 disobeying the rules and bringing theirs to start the tradition)--An 88 Class Member 3. Middle school kids still play tackle football on the sidelines next to the stands. --Avery Things that have changed at Homecoming since we were in high school: 1. Almost every kid has a cell phone and a good majority of them were in use during the game --'96QT 2. Homecoming Queen and her court wearing jeans on the mostly undecorated cars--An 88 Class Member 3. Mr. Nelson is not there to confiscate the football from the middle schoolers by half time because play was too rough. --Avery
Love the new Trivia question!! The only reason I learned ANYthing in Advanced Algebra was because that teacher took spring semester off to have the only child mentioned in C. We got hunky Kent Zierer for our long-term sub . . . and he didn't talk about pregnancy even once!
Lizzy--Kick-off should be 7 p.m. against Tomahawk, I think. 88 Class Member & I MIGHT be there. The weather is supposed to be COLD! :-) Brrr.... I think in the 30's or 40's at that time of night but check it out at weather.com --'96QT :-)
What's the weather supposed to be like Friday evening? What time is kick off? Who are we (isn't it funny how we refer to a team as "we" when 1) we aren't part of the team and 2) we lost eligibility to be part of that team over 15 years ago?) playing? Anybody else going to be there? I'm still working on convincing DH to make the trek. ~ Lizzy '90
DENALI! HEY! How are you? Good to see you back here. Yes, life is BUSY but GOOD! Lizzy, congrats on your graduation (I'm hoping not to need a lawyer any time soon--ha, ha) and Homecoming is next Friday, October 12th. --'96QT :-)
Trivia:I don't even know where my yearbooks are so there's no way to peek! lol! I guess we're all busy. Just wanted to say HI. ~Denali
Oops - forgot to sign that post! It would be hard to look me up if you had no idea who I might be. ~ Lizzy '90
Congrats on the new Baby Zaves! It has been much too long since I have been here, but it looks like I haven't missed much. With no more family ties to the great Northwoods . . . well, it's kind of sad, actually. When is football homecoming?!? I have a family thing in central WI in October, so there's a slim chance . . . Also, I graduated law school with honors in May. So, if anybody will need legal services in Michigan after November (when they finally admit us to the Bar - the legal-practice bar, not the alcohol-drinking bar - you have to master alcohol-drinking just to get into law school lol), look me up!
GIXXER--You'll probably have a 30-year reunion in 2009. Who was your class president? That person might know the details or know someone who should know. Good luck! --'96QT :-)
Does anyone here know of when the class of 1979 Reunion might occur?.I graduated from PHS in 1979 stayed in town until 1982 Joined the Marines and retired from there after 22 Years no am retired living in Okinawa Japan and own and operate a motorcycle shop Gixxer
Yes, a VERY quiet place this summer. I hear the website administrator would appreciate more conversation since this board is kept up to date without compensation, except for the happiness of knowing people are using and enjoying it. The summer has been so nice, though, and maybe when winter comes along everyone will have more to say. Anyway, the scoop on the Price County Fair is that it starts a week early this year on Wednesday, August 15th and goes through Sunday the 19th. Rodeo, demo derby, music entertainment, rides, etc. --'96QT :-)
Anybody have the scoop on the Price County Fair? When it is, and the entertainment?
Kind of a quiet place this summer, hope all are well and enjoying their summer -Phantom '86
Hope you are all enjoying your summer. Some of us had an impromptu Message Board Reunion on June 30th! :-) --'96QT
Cool news! I do know Chris a bit. Congrats to him and his little family! :-) --'96QT :-)
To all those that know my Brother Chris, I want to announce that he is the proud father of a baby boy, Jacob David (7lbs. 19 inches) born 5/25/07. Mother father and baby are all doing well. Michael Zaves
Will spring ever arrive, to the exclusion of winter? Or is this going to be one of those strange years when it snows in June???
Lizzy--I am SO sorry for your loss. --'96QT
Happy birthday to AN 88 CLASS MEMBER! --'96QT ;-)
Thank you, an 88 Class Member! You know I love ya! I had a great birthday. And, yes, we need more postings on here to get the board back to what it once was. --'96QT :-)
HI All, Hope all are doing well! You know we need some more trivia, or stories or something on here :) How about it??? --An 88 Class Member
"Happy Birthday 96QT", from An 88 Class Member!!
Lizzy--But this year we are in luck. About two or three inches of snow. The winters in the northwoods just keep getting easier and easier! :-) --'96QT
We finally got a real snowfall here in S. Michigan. It's funny to listen to people complain, considering how much more challenging the weather is in the northwoods. Bunch a sissies! (Not to mention lousy winter drivers.) ~ Lizzy
GaryM--Great code name....Ha, ha. Glad to see another member on the board! --'96QT :-)
Nice bit o' hot trivia there... I know that I sure wasn't one of those voted "Most Athletic", though... lol... GaryM
Wisconsin's new slogan, "Welcome to our freezer!" Yes, it is cold. So cold that people should be posting here on the message board, because, who wants to be outside?! :-) --'96QT
Oooooh, it's cold. (Just doing my part to fill the void) 7-Dot
'Nonymous--Glad you're back! Yes, it still exists, but it has been really slow here lately. By the way, Folks, this year's Alumni Basketball Tournament for male & female alumni is March 31st. Anyone going to be in attendance? --'96QT :-)
I haven't been here in a long time so nice to see it still exists. Happy 2007 to all - hopefully it will bring happiness and success to all (I know I'm looking forward to a new year!) - 'nonymous
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year to everyone. --An 88 Class Member
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year to everyone!!!!--An 88 Class Member
Lizzy--Harbor will have some entertainment, I am sure, and there will be people there. The other place to go in town is Bossman's, and they'll have a DJ that night. Any other place will probably be boring. Not sure where I'll be or what I'll be doing, but whatever it is, it will be fun! :-) Merry Christmas & happy new year to you all! --'96QT :-)
Anything good happening over New Year's weekend? Just might make it that far north this year . . . ~Lizzy
Just wanted to wish all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.- Phantom '86
Anyone going to be in Philly over the holidays? I call an impromptu Class Reunion Page Reunion at Harbor & Bossman's on December 23rd. Who's game? --'96QT :-)
http://www.resist.com/other/border_patrol.swf This link is for a game that is about as un-PC as possible, but can be a diversion while at work. -Phantom'86
Halloween is over, I know, but who does't enjoy carving a pumpkin? Go here and have some fun. (It's better than doing work; isn't it?!) http://www.coasttocoastam.com/timages/page/pumpkin_sim.html --'96QT
Happy Hallowe'en!! Here's to ghosts and ghouls and too much candy!
'96 QT, I am down in the Fox Valley. None of the snow stuck
Phantom--Where do you have snow? There was snow in Phillips that started on Wednesday and stayed until Sunday. It is gone now.--Phew! Everyone--Bossman's Halloween Party--October 28th! --'96QT :-)
Who would have thought, in times of "global warming" that we would have snow three weeks before Halloween. Was there any that stuck in Phillips?- Phantom '86
Lord love a duck, indeed - it's been raining more days than not for the past several weeks here. Send me some sunshine from the west (since all the crummy weather seems to come from that direction)! ~Lizzy
Someone needs to spice this place up. Let's see....News from Phillips. The Yarn Barn bought the old Samal's shop....has a new barn front, too. Northern Merchandise is undergoing a storefront remodel, as well. Fall Harvest Fest is Saturday. And I hear that somewhere in Kimberly a teacher has ungraded papers stacked as high as our Phillips water tower! (Inside joke.) Hope all is well with everyone. --'96QT :-)
Lizzy--You are right....I read through it really fast, and I fixed a few other typos but forgot to fix that one. Woops. How sad is that...someone actually thinks it's spelled that way and I forgot to correct it! :-) --'96QT
In regards to #1 - is wasn't "SIKE" it was "PSYCH!" - as in, "I just totally psyched you out, how cool am I?" As for #17, it was one of those goofy pencil games where you figured out who you were going to marry, how many kids you were going to have, and where you were going to live (in a Mansion, Apartment, Shelter, or House - hence the name). This info was confirmed by a friend of mine who actually played it (though she opts for "sike" because she was so young in the 80s she and her friends didn't know how to spell "psych"). ~Lizzy

Who knows how to party? The Class of 1996! Just ask our DJ. He said it was the best reunion he ever did, and this was said only half an hour into it! We are an energetic group! Harbor did an excellent job of flawlessly serving our meals--prime rib, stuffed shrimp, ham, and chicken at a sit down meal in the dining room, beginning with salad and topped off with white cake. 41 classmates and about 13 guests attended. Good times. LIZZY, good luck with those interviews. --'96QT :-)
"It's a small world", (now everyone will have that little song running through their heads for a few minutes at least :) )good luck with the interviews, I am sure you will do well, Lizzy. --An 88 Class Member
So, I interviewed with a law firm today (it's Early Interview Week, which means I have 10 interviews in four days - ugh). They posted bios of the interviewers on the door, and it just so happens one of the guys sits on the Board of Directors of Phillips Plastics! It was sort of weird, but gave us something to talk about in the interview besides "what did you do last summer?" Maybe it will give me a foot in the door with the firm! <crossing fingers> ~Lizzy
If there is a budget crisis in the Phillips school district, I would think that you would have to consider consolidating not only the athletic programs, but the entire schools, and I think Prentice would be the logical choice. With Prentice only 14 miles south, it would not mean much more bus time.
"To win is to lose, and to lose is to win", I think that quote pretty much explains what it would be like to win the lottery, if the public were to know about it. I think winning the lottery can solve and create many problems. Not in or with all people but with some. So I think it is best not to win one--then again there is no danger of that if you don't play!!! --An 88 Class Member
Mrs Podhora as Brezhnev is correct. She would sub for Mrs Janetski and Mrs Prohaska in the Home Ec department most frequently. -Phantom '86
Did the female teachers have nicknames? I only knew nicknames for the male teachers, although I strongly suspect the boys had plenty to say about some of the female teachers when us girls weren't around.
The sub that comes to mind at the mention of Brezhnev is Mrs. Podhora . . . it seems a bit harsh, but I can't think of another sub that might be more worthy of such a nickname. And I did a little subbing in my day - kids are even worse than we ever were!
I knew 1-4 on the nickname trivia but logged in too late to be the first to answer. "Never Assume" is Mrs. Roberts. Whoever wrote inquiring about Dean, he is now in Oregon. I do have his cell and e-mail address if you send me an e-mail. I saw some of the 20-year reunion folks, Phantom '86, and I think they had a great time at their reunion. I don't know that substitute teacher (I'm too young for that one), but gosh, aren't substitute teachers the best? ;-) As for the Coffee Talk question, I'd like to win the lottery if no one knew I won it.--How about that? No money problems with friends and family but I'd be comfortable and able to do good things (for myself and others) with the extra cash. --'96QT
More nickname trivia... What was the real name of the substitute teacher commonly referred to as Brezhnev?-Phantom '86
'96 QT, I was unable to make it up for the reunion. My inlaws were in town so I could not get away. I hope all had a good time.-Phantom '86
Answers, Mr. Hein-Doc E Mr. Glynn-Woody Mr Zellinger-Happy Lad Mr. Nelson-Duck Mr. Wirth-Rock For the bonus, I know he was missing at least a part of a finger, but never had any classes with him.
Match the staff person with his nickname: 1)Mr. Hein 2)Mr. Glynn 3)Mr. Zellinger 4)Mr. Nelson 5) Mr. Wirth -- A)Happy Lad B)Woody C)The Rock D)Doc E)Duck BONUS: What hand gesture was used to refer to Mr. Hovde?
Phantom '86--How was your reunion? How long did it last at Harbor? I heard you all had to eat outside. Some folks went to Bossman's after, huh? Did you go there? Did you have a good time? --'96QT :-)
Phantom '86--Ah, congrats to you, too. It's our ten-year in September. Here's some trivia: If you wanted to earn an A for the quarter in Mr. Shillinger's class, there was one way to do so (and you could slack off the rest of the quarter). What did a student need to do? A. Beat him at a game of badminton B. Arm wrestle with him--and win C. Wash his truck every other night after school D. Wash the guys' football uniforms all season after each game E. Flirt madly with him (Um, some girls did this without motivation to raise their grade.) --'96QT :-)
How about this: Which teacher used to say "never assume"? Hint: This phrase seemed to not only go with the class that it was used in, but for life in general as well. A. Mrs. Laurila B. Mrs. Roberts C. Mr. Hein D. Mr. Peterson or E. Mr. Jasurda --An 88 Class Member
Another of my favorite Pa Jones quotes "Just drop him on his rear a few times and they will fall back to where they are suppose to hang." Always said after a well placed volleyball thrown during a rousing game of Bombardment, always accomanied by an A for teh day to the person that threw it. -Phantom '86
Just want to throw out a congratulations to those that graduated in years ending in 6 on making it another 10 years to your next reunion year. Way to survive!-Phantom '86
"Lord love a duck!", had to be spoken by "Pa" Jones. The other one isn't ringing a bell with me at the moment. Yes we definitely need some trivia, definitions, etc. here, to keep things lively. :) --An 88 Class Member
On that note, who said: 1) "Lord love a duck!" 2) "If that makes you happy, it tickles me plum to death" (may be off a bit, bonus points for a correction). 7Dot
Last I heard Dean was moving....not sure if he was moving from the San Fran area or from California. Either way, I do have an e-mail address for him. E-mail me if you want it. I'm not sure if it is current, but he gets our Class of '96 e-newsletter, and his address is on there. Anyway, congrats to 'BOTE for the (hopefully now 22 day) personal ban on smoking! Good job! Good point about the password, MANDARK, but if it was too difficult, no one would know how to get on this web site. If need be, the log-in info can always change. Keep those Spammers on their toes. Here's a Phillips High Dictionary Entry...HOOSIER. Who's your daddy? Yes? No? Someone think up some more of this red neck stuff. Or we could go with phrases said a lot during our school days. One from my "era" would be "RON!" as in "You are so Ron." Who can figure out who that referred to? --'96QT :-)
HH- What's Dean up to in San Francisco? Do you have his contact info. I knew him before anyone else in Phillips did, as he lived next door to us from birth until about 8 years old. Cool kid, and cool adult too. Would love to catch up with him.
A=Baby Blue Pickup ("PAPA SMURF") B=FAIRMONT C=TRANS AM D=RED FORD E=BURNT ORANGE (acually, I would call it more of a "Iron-Maiden-'Somewhere-In-Time'-album-cover" shade of orange, but only the trained Maiden headbanger eye could discern that, so Burnt will do). F=SNOMOBILE G=ESCORT Nice to see the site back. I was starting to get WAAAAY to productive at work. By the way, are you sure the password to this site is secure enough? We wouldn't want any spammers to be able to Mapquest the Highway and school name. I vote the username should be "carlhanish" and the password should be "shakemyfishhand". Just a thought. It's good to be back! --Mandark
Match The Car to the '87 or'88 Boy A. Dan Litvinoff B. Steve Baratka C. Mick Theis D. Stacy Schmeiser E. Gregg Hooyer F. Mike Johnson G. Dan Slowey ___ Tan Ford Escort ___ Burnt Orange Blazer ___ Snowmobile ___ Brown Trans Am ___ Ford Farmount ___ Red Ford Pickup ___ Baby Blue Pickup
Check out the new feature: Phillips High Dictionary! Submit your word and definition (on the message board)! Be creative!
As of yesterday, the spam celebration was on this website. Seriously, I have no idea where it is. Another new trivia (without choices, as all answers are welcome): Who best filled out their orange shorts? (There may not be a correct answer to this question; it is left up to individual interpretation!) Gosh, I just can't get enough of this board now. --'96QT :-)
How could Phillips be improved? How about a new grocery store?? A larger one with more variety. (Actually anyone that is not a Roundy's. Beautiful updated site by the way, nice not having annoying spam. Glad to see everyone :) --An 88 Class Member
P.S. I personally think we should all bow to our web designer. Applause, applause. She's awesome! --'96QT ;-)
MT/TM--Millions in the stock market? Dang, too bad I never had a thing for such OLDER men. Ha, ha....There is also that little fact of you being married! :-) Heck, if you're making millions in that class, how's it going in real life? And where's my prime rib with money like that? ;-) I'm so glad so many people are back. We haven't seen this much action on the board in forever. Keep it going. It is the highlight of so many people's days, (because I know folks who are too afraid to post but find it hilarious to read). We need to get these people out of their shells. And invite more people over, too, you guys! Later, '96QT :-)
man, I was trying to remember if the mascot had a name like "bill" or something. sigh. Heck, it's 100 degrees out and I quit smoking 21 days ago! cut me some slack :) 'bote
I believe that the one bowing in the picture also made millions in the stock market in that class!! He was also known to have a fondness for his tight orange basketball shorts. --mttm
I love spam--yum yum (haha). Trivia--does anyone know where the annual spam celebration is held?? I do.
87-88 is correct. To improve Phillips-- I would sell the theatre back to Dave Deda and hire Putnam, Kempkes, Jebens and Slowey back. (The boom in business would be utilized to finance the School District of Phillips) It would once again be the hub for a qaulity learning experience in and out of the classroom.
YEA! Glad to have the board back. As for the trivia, I think it must be the 1987-88 edition of the Wabasso. But now I need to go dig up my yearbooks just to check, because I don't remember that caption at all (and I ought to). Stay cool, all! ~Lizzy
Yeah, the message board is back! Hopefully the SPAM will stay away with this new system. Enjoy!

Coffee Talk: Warm up the summers and winters. CL '94
Thursday, May 18, 2006
10:51:21 AM
Raise your hand if you hate the SPAM! I do! I am not sure, but this message board may get moved if it continues. If so, there will be a form at this web page that you can fill in to find the new web address. If all else fails, I believe this change will happen some time this summer. --'96QT
trivia answer: juniors had yellow, sophomores had orange, freshmen had the lockers in the back hallway - were they green? I can't believe I don't remember what color the lockers in that hallway were! Damn, I am getting old. ~lizzy
Trivia: If you were a senior when you had the blue lockers, what other color lockers did the underclassmen have & who had them? BONUS: What are the exterior locker colors now? DOUBLE BONUS: What are the interior locker colors now? --'96QT :-)
Bigfoot sightings in Price county, hmm, haven't seen bigfoot, but have seen an occasional bobcat. --An 88 Class Member
BOTE--I almost thought your link & posting was message board spam! That is funny....I think that company has found a way to make some cash in the Northwoods. Strange. --'96QT
heh, Bigfoot research is coming to Price County. http://www.bfro.net/news/roundup/wisconsin.asp --bote
Lizzy--Sorry to hear about your farm troubles. Hopefully the little ones that are left are born okay. As for the coffee talk question, I don't think there is a total talent drain in Phillips. Just look at all the Phillips' natives who are still here and who are doing business & doing it well....Plastics, Plating, IAP, Marquip, Onchuck at the law office, Hrabak at the CPA office, Bohn at Bohn Web Design, Raskie at Just Because, Gehrke at the pharmacy, Bushman's at The Dollar Store, Gabrielsen at the real estate firm, teachers, nurses, etc., etc., etc. I do agree that some talent goes, but a lot of that talent could make it here if they tried. I think Phillips needs a bit more entertainment to keep the 20 & 30-something crowd around full-time. And I don't think that people are discriminated against here. I think a lot has changed since you lived here, Lizzy. We have a few minorities here that blend in just fine. I think people here are quite accepting, especially the younger crowd. By the way, there were a few guys older than you, Avery, at that Alumni game last weekend, and none of them broke any bones. I'm sure you would have made it! ;-) --'96QT :-)
Well, it's been a tough week to be a llama farmer. Our fifteen-year-old died at the veterinary hospital this week . . . looks like something akin to cancer had just completely invaded her internal organs. This weekend one of our females spontaneously aborted; we still have to figure out which mama llama it was. So, now instead of five new baby llamas this year, we are only expecting three. <sigh> At least we get to have lambs this spring. ~Lizzy
I would improve Phillips by making the people more open-minded and worldly. There is too much ignorance and way too little tolerance of any sort of diversity. If you don't subscribe to the mom-and-apple-pie attitude of the general population, it would be difficult to be comfortable in Phillips over the long term. I couldn't bear to live there even as a married white woman who wants a career and zero children...I can't imagine what it must be like if you're gay or black or Jewish trying to make it in someplace like Phillips. ~Lizzy
I also knew Dean Grube, although not in his high school years. His family lived next door to mine when *I* was in high school and he was still in grade school. It's interesting to me that he has lived in Minneapolis and now San Francisco, as he did not strike me back then as being a "city person." ~Lizzy 90
I fully believe in the "if you build it, they will come" philosophy. I think if there were classes offered, parental involvement, or other people able and willing to encourage entrepreneurial activity, more people would see the opportunities that lie in Phillips and capitalize on them. I have stated before and still believe that if a person has the knowledge, the ability to see opportunities, the ability to network with others, and the understanding of how to raise capital, that they can and will succeed in ventures that they start in a small town like Phillips. Phillips does have a few examples of people who have had this vision and have accomplished this. I have seen many types of businesses, both for profit, and nonprofit, that have the abilities to start out, grow, and survive, in areas that people wouldn't have thought they could do what they are doing. If that entrepreneurial talent could be encouraged it would generate new business owners, and opportunities for people who do not want to be owners as well. I think that some how "a vision of the potential that lies before them" has to be taught to students. That the tools for them to muster the courage to imagine, brainstorm, learn, grow, and overcome obstacles has to be available to them. Further the ability to accurately project potential revenue streams must be taught and understood. So often it seems that people do not realize the profit potential of certain businesses. They do not realize the dollars that various types of businesses are able to generate and sustain. --An 88 Class Member
HH: Yes, I graduated with Dean! :-) I knew him rather well. Last I saw him, though, was probably when a small group of four of us went out about two years ago! I assume he'll be at our reunion this year. I do remember that Dean always said he'd be president some day. I jokingly told him I wouldn't vote for him! ;-) --'96QT
Good to see that the forum spam finally made to the board.
Hi '96QT. I am not from Phillips, I am from Minneapolis. I was bored the other night so I started typing some of my friends names into google to see if anything came up...did I mention I was very bored? :) ...and when I typed in Dean Grube, this website came up. I suppose there is nothing I really need to know about him, I've know him pretty well for a few years. He just moved to SanFrancisco though so I only talk to him once in a while now. Anyway, he is one of the most intriguing people I've ever met so my curiousity sparked when I realized you folks might be his old high school classmates. Thanks for the quick response. -HH
In answer to the question, there is a talent drain in Phillips. Some of the best students that graduate from PHS go to college and do not return. There is little in the way of employment opportunity to bring people back to Phillips. A concerted effort has to be made to attract companies to the area. --Phantom 86
HH: I know Dean Grube! What do you want to know? Who are you? Are you from Phillips? --'96QT :-)
Hello. So do any of you know Dean Grube? I was just wondering what he was like back in high school. -HH
Okay, so the PF mill is partially back open. Anyway, BIG NEWS....The Loggers beat the Washburn Castleguards tonight by 11 or 12 points....GREAT game! They advance to Regional Finals on Saturday at Lakeland against Hurley, I think, at 2 p.m. --'96QT
Price County Gossip: Rumor is the Park Falls paper mill closed. Also, the other old part of Wheel Way burned in Park Falls two nights ago. Not good news but it's news! --'96QT
In reading the story about the three mayoral candidates, it scares me to think that Ted Kempkes might become mayor. It brings to mind visions on Pottersville from "It's a Wonderful Life"--Phantom 86
Hey! A BIG shout-out to my favorite 88CM, who turned 36 today! Happy birthday! Love ya! --'96QT :-)
'Bote: I think the five year old is probably a computer robot that posts on these web sites. Stupid. I know it will keep getting deleted and probably eliminated as soon as possible. Anyway, congrats to Jacob Schlub! He just beat the record for most career points in basketball that was held by Mike Johnson of the 1980's basketball fame. Schlub also scored the most points of any of his games tonight, with 40-some points. The Loggers beat Pines by 80-some to 40-some. Belated birthday wishes to Avery! (Sorry I forgot!) --'96QT :-)
Whoever keeps posting the spam must feel, act and look about five then. 'bote
Hmmm.....A new study shows that those who post messages on this message board feel, act, and LOOK years younger than those who do not....The reason being that you are still young at heart, wanting to play/have fun, connect with friends, laugh, etc. If you don't post on this message board, you are OLD. What a study! Good thing I post here. :-) (Hint, hint to those who are only "readers" or to those who haven't stopped by in awhile.) --'96QT :-)
'96 QT, thanks for the tip--Phantom 86
Phantom 86--I cannot think of any "news" off hand but do you know that you can go to www.phillipswi.com and read part of The-Bee on-line for free? You just need to click on the categories at the top to find news. --'96QT
So what's the latest news from Price County that has not made the Bee? I don't get much news regarding the area anymore, but do not think it is worth subscribing to the Bee.--Phantom 86
Wanting more gossip, Phantom 86? Word is that the apartment fire was started by an arsonist...It's all in this week's "Bee!" Glad to see you are here; we can always use more people and more postings! --'96QT :-)
Hard to believe that Westwood is gone. Dinner theater, weddings, award banquets, etc. Lots of memories! ~Lizzy
Hello An 88 Class Member and thanks for the welcome. I just found this site recently. It is good to see a place to get some of the local gossip.--Phantom 86
Welcome Phantom 86! Hopefully Wednesdays are just a fluke. Glad to see a new poster. So have you been lurking on the site long, or just find it recently. --An 88 Class Member
So are people thinking they have a Wednesday fixated arsonist?--Phantom 86
Phillips News update: West Wood burned down on Wednesday night, and the building that had rentals in it, next to Bonnie's Diner, burned the Wednesday before. Subway has now been open for a bit as well. --An 88 Class Member
'Nonymous--I got an e-mail with a subject line that said it was your birthday from one of these registry sites. I know who you are, of course, so I had to wish you a happy birthday on the board. And, hey, it got you to post a little bit, so good deal! Hope you had a great 25th. Is this your 10th annual 25th? :-) Just teasin'. --'96QT
My favorite memory was getting a pair of skis, falling down on my face in the driveway on them and smashing my nose. Blood was all over over my face and my family was hysterical. NOW I think it's funny, but then I was almost as scared as they were. Took me a long time to get back on those things... RT88
OK '96QT - what's so funny?? I'm 25 again, by the way. =) 'Nonymous
One more they just told me....Why do sharks live in salt water?....because pepper makes them sneeze!!!!!!!!!
Happy New Year!! Don't get me started on kids jokes..... Why can't you tell jokes on the ice?.... It gets all cracked up! What happened when the cat ate yarn?....she had mittens! Why did Tigger stick his head in the toilet?.....He was looking for POOH! hahaha!!!! Our children are 8 and 10,... so fun! :-)Denali
Happy birthday to, 'Nonymous.--It is so funny how I found this information out! Happy new year to everyone! --'96QT :-)
More third-grade humor: How do ghosts give each other driving directions? Answer: "Go toward the light! Turn left at the light!"
Favorite Christmas Cookie, gee, that would have to be butter horns, they are simply delicious, and when done as a Christmas cookie, they are very pretty with all kinds of colored sugar sprinkled on top. Then of course there is always the sugar cookies. Home made old fashioned fudge, the kind that is a bit grainy, that definitely makes for a delicious Christmas treat!! --An 88 Class Member (Still reading the board, just haven't posted lately!!)
Mmmmm...favorite Christmas cookie...my ex-mother-in-law made an awesome array of cookies this time of year, but my favorites were probably the shortbread-covered-in-chocolate-and-caramel...or maybe the pecan fingers...or the secret kisses. Of course, there's always the ones with the little peanut butter cup pushed into the center. Do I have to pick just one kind?? ~Lizzy
How about a little third grade humor to liven this place up? What happened to the FBI agent who was scared of the monster under his bed? .... He went under cover! :-) --'96QT
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. --'96QT
Hey, Happy turkey day! We'll be in Philly for the weekend! Then, the hubby is praying for snow, see you in the winter! Denali
Wow, just two weeks ago I would have had a different answer for this Coffee Talk Question, but now I am right on board with you, Lizzy. Stay strong....He knows what you've accomplished. --'96QT
I'd like to have dinner with my dad - he's missed a lot in the last five years!! ~Lizzy
Wow, things have sure been slow around here! It's been almost a month since anybody posted anything. I don't really have anything to say but we at least needed something new on the board. ~Lizzy
LIZZY--Sorry to hear about that one. Wow, that is just awful to happen. But maybe it was meant to work out like that for a reason. Maybe something better is around the corner and you might have gotten that job and missed out on something better had you arrived on time. Good luck! --'96QT
DENALI--Yep, I know the Educator Licensing Page, and when I put that name in the other day, it popped up that the license he applied for on Aug. 2004 was still valid (I think for another year). But when I just plugged it in tonight, you are right, that it says no license is found. Why isn't it at least showing it was there and that it expired? All the rest do. Weird. I am unsure why it is like that, but I do know he is in Winter and was there last year, too, for the last half of the year. Have a good one. --'96QT :-) P.S. There will be a group of cute, young girls (and a few guys) hopping around the bars on Saturday night, (Harbor, Miller Time, Bossman's). Anyone around?--Join us!
96QT, go to wisconsin dpi, then you have to click around to get to EDUCATOR LICENSE SEARCH. Put his name in and it says all of the licenses he has held. The latest being the emergency license for Alternative Ed. which has now expired. Plug my name in and it'll show you the same thing. Just look for expiration dates...it shows I have about 5 different licenses, but some have expired. Let me know. I'll check it again, but I think his is up... take care! denali
Here's a totally bad interview story -- I completely forgot I had one this morning! It just slipped my mind because I've been really focused on a trial I have next week (my very first real jury trial, and I am just a lowly law student - yikes!!). Anyway, I went to school this morning in student clothes (instead of my interview suit) to meet with my trial partner, completely oblivious to the fact that this Sept. 21 was the same Sept. 21 when the interview was scheduled. I remembered about 2 hours later. So, I sucked up my pride, stuck my tail between my legs, and went to the interview room to apologize in person. To my surprise, the guy was really gracious about it and offered to interview me right then, student clothes and all. We had a pleasant chat, I told him about the case I'm working on, and he even asked me to mail him my transcript when we were finished. We'll see if I get a second interview out of this one . . . I'm not holding my breath! ~Lizzy
Jill--- Shoot me an email--I have some of the info you need. Slowey dbslowey@yahoo.com
My story is not really the worst interview ever, just about what happened at the end of it. Having kept in mind the importance of a handshake, which had been drilled into my head in college, I decided without really watching what my potential employer was doing, to reach out my hand at the conclusion of the interview for a handshake. Well at the time he had been moving something on his desk, I hadn't really looked at it, and he quickly pulled his hand away telling me something to the effect of no, you have to work before you get this, this is not for you. I looked and here he was holding a check for someone in his hand. I very quickly explained that I just wanted to shake his hand, and thank him for the interview, he sort of grinned, shook my hand, and well I ended up being hired anyway. It sure made for a chuckle after the fact. --An 88 Class Member
HA! I cannot believe I just did that....I accidentally hit the "Submit Comments" button before I wrote anything! Must be getting late. I always wondered how people could do such a thing. Silly me. ANYWAY, DENALI, what is the link to that DPI page, because when I typed him into the license database, it appears he still has a license. Also, he started teaching there in the Spring of 2004. As for the coffee talk, I has something similar....It was an "interview" at college to move into a higher level of the program, and I met with four people. They got me confused with someone else and said I said & did things I had not done (and even told me I was living in a different town than I was....you'd think I'd know where I was living!), and then I had to come back and meet with the ENTIRE department two weeks later. The whole thing was crazy & really long & drawn out. Some of you know this story, some of you don't....Some of you who are reading this now and didn't know who I was before might figure me out, too! Oh well. Have a nice weekend, Everyone. --'96QT :-) P.S. Where is the Eastside Kid, Avery, & '87 Compadre these days?
Hey ALL, haven't stopped here for awhile~busy. Has anyone heard that Pete Heath is teaching in Winter?? What??? I heard that so I went on DPI website and it says he doesn't hold a valid teaching license? Gossip has it that he was "taken care of" and just went to another district?? He's working with an outreach/alternative program. Who knows what? My last worst interview...I was lead into the conference room to meet the panel. They were told my name that I go by, which is different than my given name and one principal freaked out and said "Well, her resume says, this, not that, WHATEVER!" She actually said that and wouldn't even shake my hand. Thats how it started out, nice huh? I ended up getting the job and she highly recommended me for the position...weird, you just never know!! Did you know that Roni Ann Runnheim (I'm not sure of her married name) also had a baby boy! Toots is so proud of them both!! :-) Last I heard Susan was in Seattle with you Jill~?? Hey, I filled up my gas tank today for $2.99 because the small town that I'm by doesn't have enough 3's to change to $3.00!! lol! We're on our way to Phillips tonight, that outta be a gas shocker!! TTFN Denali
In the aftermath of my 14-interviews-in-a-week week, I'm interested in worst-job-interview stories! We've been needing a new coffeetalk question for a while anyway. So, share your horror stories! ~Lizzy
Mmmm...I used to be pretty tight with Jill Lacina - last I heard, she's in Australia. Anyone have contact info for her? Thanks!
Is it hot enough for everybody?? I've heard that WI got it even worse than we did here, and without the rain. Ugh! We had another baby born last week, and we've been hosing him down a couple times a day to keep his temperature regulated. He seems to be coming along nicely . . . probably better than us humans! Stay cool, all! ~Lizzy
Lizzy--We had fun at Bossman's and Harbor this weekend, and that's where most of the reunion folks ended up! Obviously I am a '96er so I wasn't invited, but I still needed to know how it was, so I asked someone from the Class of '90 when we were all out on Saturday night, and he said that there were about 40 people. Then I heard through another source that there were about 50-80 people. I guess the DJ/light show cost $1,000. AH! I know when I drove by they changed the reunion sign to just say "Beer" by about 7 o'clock at night. Out of a possible 2,200 people (classmates and spouses), it doesn't sound like it was too good of a turn-out. I think a lot of classes didn't even get invitations! Anyone who was there have something to add? --'96QT :-)
Hey, how was the reunion? ~Lizzy
A big shout out to a class member from the 88 crew, congratulations to Rod Runnheim & his wife Kris on the birth of their new baby boy, Chase. 90guy
Jill--Could you send an e-mail to ninetysix_qt@hotmail.com, too. --'96QT :-)
On second thought, make that r_runnheim@yahoo.com -- I not be at work for the next week or two.
Jill, the address I had for you was no longer valid. Email me at rodr@lmcg.wisc.edu
I took care of Jill's request -- assuming I have both email addresses correct. If not Jill, please post again here and I'll see what I can do.
July 2nd, Bossman's, DJ, Let's all get together and have some fun that night. Some members of the message board are likely to be there!
Welcome to the site, Jill! :-) Make sure to keep coming here to post stuff to keep it alive. Many people read the board but only a few are brave enough to post! This site is filled with '88ers, so you came to the correct place. One of them will e-mail you later with some helpful info. Take care. --'96QT
Hi Folks, Just wondering if you can help me find some information on my former classmates? I'm from the Class of 88 and am in search of Susan Revie and a few others. We had a class reunion last year but I don't have my contact list from that. Can anyone help? It would be much appreciated. Cheers, Jill Lacina
Does anybody know how things are shaping up for the multi-year reunion over July 4th weekend? Haven't decided yet whether to attend. We'll be starting babywatch around that time, and with the heat of midsummer, a new baby may require extra care. That, and 10+ hours in the car just doesn't sound like a good time. But, who knows, I may decide to crash the party at the last minute, just to see who's there. ~Lizzy
Ah, yes, Lode Runner! That was it. I can now breathe easier, knowing the answer to my burning question. <whew> ~Lizzy
7Dot--I already know who you are. :-) Congrats on the upcoming baby! --'96QT
Heya '96QT. Yes, we're expecting a son in two weeks. Yikes! My identity will, of course, be blown at that time. That's okay, as I haven't been going out of my way to disguise my identity too much anyway :-) ..7Dot
7Dot--Are you and your wife expecting a son? If so, make sure to let us know all the details when it is born. I'm assuming this since you say you were considering that name. Also, we need some trivia on here. I'll have to try to think of some, too. --'96QT :-)
Lizzy, I think there were a few games people played on the Mac. Load Runner was a popular one -- get the gold, dig holes in bricks to trap the thieves after you. There was another one that was part satyr, (it had a vorpal rabit, one scene involved bambi being stepped on by godzilla...) I can't recall the name of that one though. Just saw the Event Box. Landon is a cool name! Was considering that one too. 7Dot
First, which class are you from (need some idea of age-appropriate fun stuff), and where are you having the reunion? --'96QT
Ineed some ideas for the fun side of the reunion QUICKLY. Our reunion is this weekend.
LIZZY, You now need to take a well deserved break!!! Also I don't know your answer to your question, but perhaps 7DOT might have an idea. SNO, glad to see it is snowing on the website again. I haven't been here in awhile. Hope all is well with everyone. --An 88 Class Member
HEYYYYYY!! I brought the SNO back to WI!! And thanks for the bday wishes ( it's actually the 29th though)!! NO MORE AFTER THIS ONE THOUGH>>LOL.. hope all is well with everyone. I am hoping to get up north soon.. are we still having some sort of get together this summer??? I dont have the time to run back through the last 6 months of messages on here right now... will visit soon... have a happy day everyone! *************SNO************
Three exams down...one more (four-hour) exam to go. And then my first year of law school will be OVER!!! Yippee!! ~lizzy
It must be SNOing somewhere, because....it's SNO's birthday, (April 28th)! Happy birthday, SNO! ~'96QT : )
Check out the new Logger icon in the Address bar!
Spring and summer are always slower times on here. Everyone should put this site as their home page, though, and then it would prompt them to visit more often. Wouldn't you agree?! : ) Sorry I cannot answer your trivia question, Lizzy.--I'm just a bit too young to know that info. But keep posting and someone will reply! --'96QT : )
You people actually have lives, something better to do than hang out here? I'm jealous! ~Lizzy

Trivia: What was the name of the computer game that was played on Mr. Hein's Macintosh, back in its early days (when it was the only Mac in school)? (Somebody please tell me, because I just can't remember! lol) ~Lizzy
Wow, cool trivia, 88CM. Now, an update on the Loggers. Today they were winning after 1st quarter, winning at half time, winning after third, and guess what?--Lost by three points at the end of the game! Ugh, it was exciting, though, and a nice effort by the guys. --'96QT
TRIVIA TIME BONUS, Does anyone remember the fourth to the last line in the poem below? I can't remember it myself!!! --An 88 Class Member
TRIVIA TIME PART III: How many students were in the play? A. 17 B. 3 C. 14 or D. 6 --An 88 Class Member
TRIVIA TIME PART II: What occurred during the play? A. Students held up photos of the objects mentioned in the poem, in the play. B. Students carried a card with the first letter of the line they said, then at the end all held up the letters and said, and spelled out "Winter Carnival, WOW!". C. Students practiced the play repeatedly, but never actually performed the play for the whole school. D. none of the above. --An 88 Class Member
TRIVIA TIME question on the winter topic...The following poem was created by whom, and for what purpose: "We're wearie of winter weather, We're itching for some fun. Icey winds have got us down, something must be done. Nerves are shot, we can't sit still, we're acting bad its true. Time to take a winter break, the teachers need one too. Every day the same routine, excitement we could use. Right now we need a change of pace to cure the winter blues. Come one and all and beat those winter blahs. All week long activities planned just hear the oohs and ahs. Race with shovels, eat a pie the week should be a riot. Neat games to play and skits to write, I'm sure you'd like to try it. If you can build a pyramid or sculpt a man of snow. Varietys the spice of life so lets all have a ball. Action packed adventures a concert for us all. (I can't remember one line) Well all of you must know by now. Oh we do not need to tell it. We're having a Winter Carnival. A. Mrs. Kubiak for a play for Winter Carnival week B. Mrs. Fox for a play for Winter Carnival week C. Mrs. Foytik for a play, for an extracurricular extra credit project, to encourage public speaking. D. Mr. Nyberg for a play for Winter Carnival Week. --An 88 Class Member
Wow on the Loggers Basketball, didn't think they were doing that good this year. Lizzy, can you send your email address or home address to me at ChicagoDavey@hotmail.com. It's in regards to a classmate trying to find your address for this big reunion that is being organized. Incase some of you haven't heard they are trying to organize a reunion of all the classes from 1980 through 1990. It's supposed to happen over 4th of July weekend. They will be sending out a flier/invite soon but thought I'd give the heads up to people. 90Guy
ATTENTION: Your alma mater is winning! With Tuesday night's score, Park (literally) Falls (ha, ha!) to Phillips. Then, tonight, the Loggers took the Bulldogs of Chetek to the pound. Saturday they play in Hayward in the Regional Final. Just thought you'd all like the update. GO LOGGERS! --'96QT : )
Denali....Go to Miller Time...DJ there...You'll have fun! --'96QT
Hey, We're coming up again this weekend (tomorrow) we'll be at Harbor sometime on Sat. night. 9pm or later...We have blue Yamaha coats...see ya??? ~Denali
Hey, Denali....I think it all just depends on the night you go out in this town....Saturday is THE night, but I mean, certain Saturdays are busier than others. Harbor, Miller Time, and Bossman's are where the people are, so if they aren't there, gosh, I don't know! Maybe everyone left town for the weekend! : ) Glad to see you are back here. Keep posting! --'96QT
OK, what's up??? We were in Phillips on the snowmobile, stopped at Harbor View and there were 4 other people in there on a Sat. night!! I know we've been gone for awhile, but now where do you go?? Let me know. 88CM, did Jodee find Susan? Last I knew she was in Seattle too. I'd like to drop her a line too! How are you doing? I'll try to write sooner or later, haha! ~Denali
Hmmm...how 'bout a coffee talk about winter? Like, what was your best snow day, or what is the worst winter storm you remember?
Happy Valium-time, Everyone! ~ Love, Lizzy
Happy birthday to Avery! Gee, I think we need a new Coffee Talk question and some of the boys to get back to this "playground" and post something...insightful! Any suggestions on Coffee Talk? --'96QT : )
I LOVE the Phillips Loggers!!!
90GUY--Sorry but I wasn't able to see the championship game of the alumni tournament this year....Too busy so I don't know who won, and it appears The-Bee has failed us on its reporting, as well! --'96QT
Hey, who won the Alumni Basketball this last weekend? 90guy
A 79 CLASS MEMBER--Why not try calling some of the Matsicks and Swansons in the area. I bet you'll find someone to locate the people you are looking for. --'96QT
LIZZY--The winters haven't been too bad in the past few years in Phillips actually. There is hardly any snow on the ground this year. Yes, there was a negative thirty degree day recently, but where are the mounds of snow we used to get when I was little? My dad used to make me snow slides and I'd also make forts. There was so much cold weather and snow back then! I think the weather patterns are shifting. But the Phillips' natives know they can handle a 120 degree temperature change throughout the year; no problem! We are all strong folks! --'96QT
Ah, yes, the weather whiners! I had fun this semester at school, when my classmates from California and Georgia asked me how cold they should expect it to get. Of course, I told them I wasn't quite used to the "mild" winters here in southern MI...but that we would likely have at least a few days of 30-below temps. And, no, that was not counting wind chill. They were about ready to drop out of school then and there. Sissies! Winters in Phillips are much colder and snowier and longer than where I live now. It's almost like the tropics here! lol ~Lizzy
Hi, everybody! How's the weather up there? People here in the southern part of the state (although they tell me we are actually the NORTHEASTERN part of the state!) whine about their winters and I tell 'em to quit complaining until they have spent a winter or two in Phillips! Congrat's to Steve and Jodi (see Winter Event Box) on their daughter - ours was born September 17, weighed in at 9 pounds 5 ounces and was 22 inches long! I'm just getting back into the swing of things at work after a 12 week maternity leave. Hey, did anybody do the Polar Bear Plunge this year??? '90VicePrez
