Avery, Actually the "seedy outpost" you refer to, (which is the '90's beloved Miller Time), is actually located on County F, not County W. Had you ever went there, you might have stumbled upon '96QT a time or two, though not too recently. I saw the contest advertised, as well, as I was looking for some new year entertainment. I was very disappointed in their choice of activities for day, even for them! Ringing in 2000 over there was great, but it'll never be the same again. Oh well. Do all the drugs you want and listen to rock-and-roll in its heyday (imagine seeing Hendrix or Led Zepplin live in concert).

Then in the 70s, "love the one your with", i.e. fuck anyone you want in the 70s before the era of herpes and AIDS.

Then in the 80s, finally get serious about life just in time to take advantage of Reagan-omics: "Trickle-down", supply-side, "the-rich-get-really-rich-and-the-poor-get-poorer" and "don't-worry-about-the-deficit-spending-and-tax-cuts-now-fuck-the-younger-generations" attitude.

Then in the 90's start bitching about Social Security and electing politicians who stuff a bunch of money into it (actually just enough to last until about 2030) so that there's $ in it just about to the time you die; so you can spend your "hard-earned" money on obnoxious cars, SUVs, luxury cruises, and internet stocks.

And today (and for the next 30 years), the boomers get to suck Social Security dry and let the younger generation worry about the problem later.

Yep that's right, this seedy outpost on County W will be hosting its first annual "Frozen Wet T-Shirt Contest"! Oh my, I'm sure the Classiest Gals in Price County will be all over this one ($100 first prize with free drinks for contestants from 11pm to 1am). This is one of those train wreck type of events (turns your stomach but you just can't help yourself from taking a peek). Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend but I think we all would love to hear a report from any of you that are fortunate enough to attend or participate in this gala. ~Avery

The answer to 88's question would probably be B. Once QT said remodeling and closed in the same breath as Stoney Pub, my heart quivered (at least I think it was my heart). QT, I hate to disappoint you, but the teams from back in that era won't be wearing the tight, form-fitting shorts that revealed so much (or so little). We liked to call them "ballcrushers." They also showed what religion we all were, too. January 12th will be exciting because of the level of basketball, but QT, you won't get much to scope because their shorts will be so baggy. The concert I went to was Air Kraft in Amery with Pat Welsh & Jerry Litvinoff--the first time I ever got drunk. I didn't want to drink but Pat said he was going to beat the shit out of me if I didn't finish at least one beer before we got there. By the time we got there, my beer was piss warm, but Pat still made me drink it--he was seriously going to kick my ass.

The concert was great--I found a place behind the speakers (actually standing on the stage).

The ride home was a fucking nightmare--going about 110 down County Rd N in Kennan with Jerry behind the wheel just shithoused w/ Pat egging him to go a little faster.

Bo Duke--impressive Geoff Lake reference. Don't know what's more impressive--the fact you knew that or that you spelled his name (correctly) with a "G". By the way, Geoff played the keyboards and wrote most of the songs.

Hey, An 88 Class Member & All, I am back! It has almost been a month! And what a month it has been...busy, busy, BUSY! The busiest.

Well, '96 Hot-Tea & I just got back from a Christmas shopping spree in Eau Claire, where the Blugolds reign supreme. It was funny when I saw a sticker in a gum ball-type machine that said "My Bad."--I thought of some of you guys. Needless to say, I didn't try to win it! ; )

My big question of the day is, "Who is coming up so we can get this party started?" as Pink would similarly sing. My posse and I will be out on Saturday, December 22nd. Hot spots that just might be "sizzling" are the bowling alley in Phillips, Miller Time, Harbor View, The Dug Out, Meister's, or the streets of our dear Philly.--It really depends what the local attractions, (besides me & Hot-Tea, of course!), are that night. ; ) Anyone else going to be out then?

All this holiday talk reminds of one of the funniest things I've seen in our beloved home town. About ten years ago I was at the Armory for one of the very first annual Winter Festival dances. There was a cover band playing whose name I can't remember, but which isn't important because they weren't that talented & probably broke up by now. Anyway, the lead singer takes the stage looks over the audience and wails into the mic HELLO PHILLIPS! As if he was a headliner at a big arena show. Who did he think he was Brett Michaels @ Alpine Valley? Hillarious, you had to be there to really appreciate it.

I'd love to come home for X-mas, but it's not going to happen this year. This makes a for sure lock for next year. I'm hoping to know who 96QT is by then,,,,,,

If I could go back in time, I'd have to say I'd time my trip into an empty Scott Wirth U.S. History room, so I could have escape unseen with the U.S. History final answer sheet. However, a classmate that I will keep unnamed, but knows who they are, happen to see me go in, and that was about all that needed to happen for about 7/8 of the entire class to have the answers. I had to give her the answers to keep her mouth shut, but she just happen to tell a few friends.

I'd also go back and bitch slap J.B. for dropping a cheat sheet in the hall that Mrs. Laurila found, and turned into Scott Wirth. This of course was the start of the downfall to one of the biggest U.S. history final scams to date. So many people in our class were so quick to start pointing fingers. It was pretty sad.

Hey, Everyone! Well, I didn't have time on the 30th to post a message at our little playground here, but I had to be the first to wish everyone a happy Halloween! If all you guys would be in Phillips tonight we could go trick or treating as Snow White (me) and the Seven Dwarfs (you guys)! Just imagine the mountain of candy we would collect. : )

As for all these questions of the day, if I was going to die in a year, I think I would max out all my credit cards with stuff for me, family, & friends (okay, probably not); get a cocker spaniel; go talk to an old friend; and give up my identity to most all of you people! I don't think I would change much of high school at all, except for maybe a few things I won't discuss here.--I'd change more stuff at college, though. If my house burned, (funny choices, by the way), I would have to save the orange shorts, but more so grab all my pictures, my journals, and my grandpa's hat that I inherited...I can't forget my teddy bear. And I'd want my car keys!

Speaking of Bon Jovi, you all would be so impressed with my collection of '80's tunes.--A little Bon Jovi, Top Gun soundtrack, Aerosmith, collections of '80's hits, etc. One of my favorite songs is early 80's, "Centerfold." I love that song!

Speaking of, the Class Reunion Page reunion would be great for Christmas season. If there happens to be any boys' b-ball action that night, we all need to meet there to take in a game, (just to see if there are any Mike Johnson's on the court this year...Isn't he a PHS basketball legend or something?--That's just what I've heard. The guys will have to bear with me while I run a few of the "sweaty butt," "Mr. Pretty Legs," and "shotgun vs. rifle" contests which we spoke of on this message board months ago but must have been lost during that server problem or deleted "to conserve space" in The Archives.--Then again, the players must be pretty young by now, even for me. While I am doing that, Avery may want to see if the poms' coach is up to par this year.) Trivia: I think it was ‘96's freshman year...Everyone was in homeroom, not listening to the morning announcements, much to the dismay of Mrs. Laurila. A group of people were goofing around, and woops!, the lever on one of the adjustable chairs accidentally broke! This person burst out laughing, put the lever and the screws on the floor next to the chair, and the group of people left in pure innocence. The next day, Mrs. Laurila went off, reprimanding this person, telling he/she that he/she would never amount to anything if he/she continued not to admit to breaking chairs! The entire group involved was supposed to "come clean" about what truly happened, which mainly meant blaming this person for something that truly wasn’t his/her fault. Who was this person? A. LIZZY: They are back to "frigid Friday nights" ever since the "Lights on the Loggers" occurred, which means they got enough money to light the new field for once! Where in Southern Wisconsin is your husband from? Not to offend our Northern Wisconsin men, and not saying that your husband should not respect our little town, but I do tend to believe that WI men born and bred south of an imaginary line drawn somewhere a few hundred miles below Marshfield seem to have more substance than most (not all) others, so I'm sure we can all overlook his distaste for Sandwiches! : )

My goodness...I stay away for a few weeks, and the place just explodes! At least it doesn't look like I missed much. Just figured I'd stick my head in and see who's around...sounds like there are some new "faces".

Life is good here in MI (lower, not upper). The farm is taking shape, the llamas are on their way in a month, and the new job is progressing. However, bars here are few and far between, and there is no hot sauce cheese and chips! That, and way too much of the cheese comes from New Jersey.

Alas...I am looking forward to coming to WI for the weekend, but won't make it as far north as Phillips. That's an extra-long trip and it'll probably be a while before my southern-WI hubby can be coerced up there again. Can you believe he insulted the food at Sandwiches? Is that grounds for divorce? j/k

Bring a rope so that the shorter one can hoist up the taller one afterwards. Picture this if you will: The Year, 2061, (yes, '87, you'll still be alive...think positive!); The Place, PHS Class Reunion Message Board...& our favorite nursing homes! We'll still all be coming back to this page, now unable to drive our vehicles unless we sit on a few books and use some high-powered binoculars to see. I agree they shouldn't of renamed the Phillips Middle School. Besides putting the h in it, may just make people think about it that much more anyway. I don't know about you but when I see an abbreviation of any sort, I always try to figure out what it is actually for. The '96ers will be out in full-force that weekend, so watch out! I'll be at a wedding, so I'll be wearing something more appealing than orange shorts! However, MT/TM, the orange shorts are available for pick-up on Friday or Sunday of that weekend, between the hours of 4 & 6! hey 87er are we going to tear up p-town on the 28th or what---I just hope if any 96ers are around they can handle it----i chatted with our little law & order buddy from the western border state and he will not have the opprtunity to join us----unfortunate----midway here we come!!

TOP FIFTEEN REASONS WHY THE CLASS OF '96 HAD A BETTER REUNION THAN THE CLASS OF '88:

15. Our DJ rocked from just a bit before 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. 14. People left a wedding dance because our party was more happening than theirs! 13. BUTLER's brother did a fine job of serving up the drinks along with an alumnus from '97. (Yep, I spoke with him that night, but who didn't, so that won't help you, BUTLER!) 12. Guys were grinding on girls & vice versa. 11. Girls were grinding on girls. 10. Guys were grinding on guys...and doing more than that! 9. Someone showed up with a speckled rash...not contagious! 8. So, the class of '88 had midnight dipping in the lake by a couple of guys?--Well, we had at least one guy and one girl test the waters. 7. A couple people were dancing in the parking lot while another was falling down drunk by them. 6. We had a future Olympian hopeful, future author hopeful, a Don Giovanni assistant director & crew member, a self-proclaimed Tom Cruise look-alike, & a West Point graduate in attendance, along with many other wonderful people. 5. Someone showed up with pink feet bottoms...due to spilled food coloring in the making of our '96 cake. 4. One Class of '88 alumnus was too scared to come to our reunion. But someone did show up from the Class of '88; however, he was far too quiet...I can only imagine what the Class of 88's 15-year reunion will be like! Bring out the wheelchairs! (Oh, I'm kidding again...you know I love you all!) 3. Someone was thrown into the air (while walking past the dancers) by her friends' intoxicated husband and fiance. 2. '87 COMPADRE's brother was there. Oh, I talked with him, too, as did SO many others. It was great to see him, since he should have officially been a '96er anyway! (Would someone invite him to this web page already!) 1. Even though it was a cloudy day & only in the upper 60's, '96QT made it SIZZLE! ; )

Come on...Where's the love? It used to be all "Gotta love '96QT!" "We miss QT." Now I get questions like this...Well, I would answer C....Some of each have had the PLEASURE of getting to know '96QT. Ah, yes...the "innovative AIDS peer teaching group"...I can assure you that I have not remained abstinent into my 30s (I'm only 28, anyway), much to the delight of my new husband (married June 16, 2001 :-)! However, any of the other options (A through D) have probably been true at one point or another...but I'd lean heavily in favor of "A". What did members of the "innovative" AIDS Peer Teaching group do as an awareness project? A. In Mod Life, passed out cards to "infect" people with the HIV virus to prove how quickly HIV/AIDS can spread. B. Passed out condoms with safe sex messages on them. C. Kissed every member of the opposite sex to prove the virus cannot not be spread through saliva. D. Discussed (perhaps took part in) safe sex at the "showhouse;" rumor has it such discussions have since been moved to the Stoney Pub. E.             Sorry kids, was not around much for xmas and able to partake in any hot sauce at our favorite place, the Pub. Was not able to make the polar bear plunge, either. Afraid I would have lost something in the water. Not sure if I would have gone with the long shorts, the Speedo, or the pants that kill me. My partner in crime was up for a little while, though. Good to see a couple people back on the class reunion page - may be back in Phillips later in Jan! Can't wait. QT, good to see that you're posting.
