How about anyone from '88? Gotta see if anybody remembers Litvinoff and Schmeiser swimming at Harbor from the ten-year reunion!

04-02-2000, 19:10:24

Ohhh I remember the "little swim"!!!! It was a chilly night! Do the Math! Do the Math! TM

04-04-2000, 14:54:38

Who were the girls there from the class of '88? I missed it. DSMTMJ Hey, TM, what did you mean by do the math? Are you talking shrinkage?

04-05-2000, 15:23:32

TM from 1988 could stand for... "The Man." The problem is, just who could it be? I know there was a shop teacher back in the mid-80's nicknamed "The Man"; some of the fellas even had their own salute for him, as I recall.

04-07-2000, 18:41:00

I'm from the Class of '96 but your class (of 1988) sounds so interesting (from stories I've heard on this site and from the alumni) that I think I will be attending the '88 reunion. Any suggestions for how I can get an invitation?!!! By the way, the Class of '96 rocks, too, and our reunion will be a blast next year!!

04-10-2000, 07:04:01

Hey, class of '96. There are only two ways possible to attend our reunion: one, be in the graduating class, and two, marry someone in the graduating class. That is basically it. However, there may be one other...Class of '88 help me out here. One thing could be to bring any Iron Maiden/Beastie Boys CD or Europe's "The Final Countdown" to the dance. Let's give this youngster from the class of '96 some advice....

04-10-2000, 23:03:11

hey '96 I will attend yours and you mine and we'll compare notes

04-11-2000, 16:03:18

It must be my lucky day!! I just bought a used light blue (smurf-blue) 2wd pick-up truck that has the spare tire mounted on the front grill... anyways I was cleaning it out and in the seat cushions I found an old copy of Iron Maiden's Live after Death album!!! I'm from the class of '99 but it looks like I'll be dancing with girls from '88 at their next reunion!!!!!

04-13-2000, 19:43:17

Looks like I have stirred things up a bit and have a lot to respond to now!! First off, the Class of '96 is 21+...."Do the math; do the math!" Secondly, I suppose we could gather up some Iron Maiden or Beastie Boys CDs, but I thought that some member of your class might like to hear "Hey Mickey, you're so fine...." The class of '96 is cracking your code "TM"....At least you have the right idea by signing your messages with a code name.--It's time we all think up some code names to attach to our messages so we know when different people are writing. As for the person who wrote, "I will attend yours and you mine"....Is that like "I'll show you mine if you show me yours?" :) And what's this about us being "youngsters?"--My friends and I have been scoped and hit on by plenty of you '88 folks, so we must not be too young...or maybe it's just that we are so good to look at you can't help yourselves!! By the way, the smoking barrel left years ago and "the hill" was also banned. Have a great weekend everyone!! :) --'96QT

04-13-2000, 23:30:31

QT--- Hey Sweet '96 give us a name of who has hit on you??? Those older '88 girls still hitting on those younger '96 boys?? You have to fight for your right--"youngsters"!! TM

04-14-2000, 09:12:39

04-14-2000, 14:22:02

I'm an '88 guy and some of your '96 guys have been hitting on me! Talk about strange....

04-17-2000, 22:41:53

As a youngster growing up in Phillips during the mid-late 80's I enjoyed many fine films at the local theater (often times called "The Show House"). I have oodles of fond memories of my outings there, but what really stands out in my mind was the fantastic music that was played before and after the movies. Unfortunately, I can't seem to recall what albums were commonly played... So could someone please help me out and jog my memory as to what were the frequently played albums at "The Show House" back in the mid-late 80s? Also, who was responsible for playing them? Thanks.... Lil' Buckaroo

04-18-2000, 07:39:38

"Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi used to be played a lot - have to ask Cliff Putnam and the gang. Not sure if Evie White had a say in the selection...I think the popularity of the tunes depended on whose girlfriend liked which song, to tell you the truth

04-18-2000, 15:22:54

No way the songs at C.N. were selected depending upon whose girlfriend liked which song! There's no way the guys who worked there could get a date... much less a real girlfriend!!!

04-18-2000, 15:26:33

I have to confess...just the sight of the printed phrase "Showhouse" makes me feel guilty. Not only did I bring my own pop and candy in there sometimes, but I also probably sexually harassed my female classmates from PHS in there (according to the present definition). Probably. Is it harassment if they said they had fun? Anyway, I remember Arnie Putnam, Dan Slowey, Gregg Hoyer, Billy Haas, Blake Anderson, Ron Witt, and Jerry Heath. Boy, they had cool coats. They were just as cool as those Frosty's Bar jackets. Lots of cool tunes. Especially in the mid-eighties. Hope I didn't offend you, Lil' Buckaroo. --- Mid80'sM --- Maybe see all of you at Three-Mile or the Pub this Easter season.

04-19-2000, 15:07:57

Those guys from Cinema North played whatever their left hands desired...or girlfriend...or was it the same thing back then.

04-24-2000, 13:57:45

'96 honor students? C'mon. Bring James Yauch, Brett Jebens, and Dwight Parkinson to the table, and they'll take you all on in some high quiz bowl!

04-24-2000, 14:25:42

To all those '96 honor students: Hey, you didn't have to take Pa Jones' square-dancing final exam - that is why you scored those A's in Phy. Ed. Boy, that exam just kicked my ass.

04-24-2000, 14:54:50

Do the Math!!--'96 had the most honor students ever. I'm sure the Class of '88 is smart, too, but '96 did have more honor students....Those are the facts. '96 had three valedictorians: Melvin Helgeson (currently at Westpoint), Kent Gabrielsen, and Trish Moore. Throw in Steve Zellinger and one of the other 30-some honor students and '96 will accept that challenge. By the way, '96 has both beauty and brains....a lethal combination!!

04-27-2000, 19:30:02

Okay some more 88 trivia coming right up: Who sprayed the Mace in Mrs. Kielsmeier's class? A. Joe Way B. Stacy Schmeiser C. Tracy Zilly D. none of the above? --An 88 class member

MT/TM--If you are who I think you are, then I can more clearly answer a question I believe you asked me many postings ago. You were not one of the people who hit on me or my friends, but you WERE one of the guys who was scoping some girls from '96. :) --'96QT

04-28-2000, 10:47:17

MT/TM would never 'scope' girls from that class. He was too busy cleaning up all of my drool while I was 'scoping' all of you!

04-29-2000, 22:04:06

MT/TM: Answer me this, and if you give me the right answer, I may just quit trying to guess your identity! Were you driving through Phillips at about 8:15 this Saturday evening??--'96QT

04-29-2000, 22:38:44

Sno, Say I was doing some thinking, and I was wondering if you were involved in any of the following: Sitting out of Middle School Gym class, the excuse "I didn't have white socks", or a song sang by: Dexy's Midnight Runners? --An 88 class member

someone must've stayed after class & did some extra homework.. sno~

05-01-2000, 15:06:16

Gary, don't worry about that spare tire. Many of us from the 80's, and I'm a little surprised at the girth of some 90's grads, have that tire. Hey, QT, ask that MT/TM fellow if he had a bit of "hot sauce cheese" dribbling down his chin while he was driving through town at 8:15 on Saturday night. If so, I would like to know. A couple of guys who like to visit the Stoney Pub have a standing date with this person whenever we visit our dear old Phillips. If he ate there without us, we consider that a form of "adultery." Keep us informed. Hope all of you have a good fishing opener; see you up in Phillips. - Grad80's teacher

05-01-2000, 23:01:35

05-02-2000, 07:22:03

Okay, how many guys out there in middle school did not shower when they had to; they only got their hair wet, much to the dismay of Mr. Pilch and their classmates in upcoming class periods? I raise my hand.

GRAD80's TEACHER: Let's see....If I think back to last Saturday....Maybe I Could Kindly Enlighten You!! (Study that sentence to get my subliminal message!) It seems your friend may have been committing "adultery," because I do believe that some "hot sauce cheese" was lingering on his lips. I know it wasn't drool over a '96 girl this time, because for once, he had his eyes on the road!! : )  Have fun fishing, boys!  --'96QT

What happened to 96 QT? Too rough of a weekend to respond quickly on the C.R. page? Or was she out looking for the "muscle car"?

05-08-2000, 23:24:29

Hello to my "fan club!" Sorry that you missed me last weekend, but a girl does get busy, especially if you are a '96QT!! ;) Anyway, no, I wasn't out looking for "muscle car man," because as much as he wants to deny it, I already know who he is. It's funny that he didn't respond for a few weeks, and then when I got a little too close to revealing his identity, he went into DENIAL!! I have connections up the wahzoo with the Class of '88, and I have MT/TM narrowed down to 12 people. Of those 12, I can narrow by half, then half again! My final three guesses are: Mat Lesneski, Mike Bader, and Mickey Theis. But all the clues point VERY heavily at only one of those people. So, deny it all you want #44, I know who you are!!! Love ya all!!--'96QT :)

05-12-2000, 09:00:29

Wow, I am impressed with 96QT - she spelled Mat's name without the second T, which is correct. Awesome. As an English major with a "penchant" for spelling, gotta love the attention to detail! Word.

05-12-2000, 15:01:12

QT must be a basketball groupie to know Mick's number back in the day...someone better alert him.

05-12-2000, 16:17:50

96QT--I was not even mentioned in your final three!! I am very sad-- they were all great classmates of mine but you are not right!! Giving #44 all the credit--I was the one who passed him the ball! MT/TM

05-12-2000, 17:19:34

Yes, I am a "basketball groupie!"--I'd pay GOOD MONEY to see a match-up between the Class of '88 vs. the Class of '98. Ten years difference would sure be fun to see compete!! Also, I knew how to spell Mat's name, because I am not only a QT, I am also a Smart-T! MT/TM: If you really aren't #44 or the other two I mentioned, then I have you narrowed down to 4 others, (which aren't even all possible with the clues you have given--married before 2nd reunion, in basketball, etc.) From how your "friends" in here talk, I thought for sure you were #44, as do a lot of others in here. (Maybe someone should get Mickey hooked up to this site, if it really isn't him I am already talking to!) Here's my final 4....Are you one of these people?--Craig Nelson, Stacy Schmeiser, Dan Litvinoff, or Steve Baratka....or MICKEY THEIS??!!--'96QT

05-17-2000, 15:54:49

Which teacher at PHS during the mid-80's taught close to an entire lesson before realizing his fly was down? a)Ray Knhitila b)Scott Wirth c)Ron Cerveny d)Dan Hein e)Mel Lightner

05-19-2000, 15:26:44
Hey, QT - here is a hint from a "third party." MT/TM is just trying to throw you off. It isn't who you think it is. It isn't #44. Here are some clues about him. He wasn't mentioned as one of your basketball final four (which surprised us all), but he was known for his "ballhandling" back in the day. He has a penchant for tennis shoes, and he loves his Stoney Pub. His pants will "kill" you, too.

05-19-2000, 16:17:49
15:23:05 posting, hmm, I think that may of been in 85, our Freshman year? It is hard to remember for sure, but I think it is E. Mel Lightner,--Am I correct? -- An 88 Class Member

05-19-2000, 21:18:41

Wait just one minute here!....Tell me why would MT/TM be talking about his "wingdinger" and then a trivia question pops up about #44 and his "wingdinger." I think you Stoney Pub "men," (I use this term loosely :) since I'm not 100% sure who I'm dealing with yet), like to sit around with your hot sauce cheese and ice cold brew discussing how to fool me next. You need to give me more clues, because I'm still not believing the DENIAL! Have a FUN weekend! --'96QT

05-20-2000, 08:35:31

WOW--QT has been doing her homework you are still off but always in the ballpark--is that a hint? QT is it possible to be a blugold twice in one's life?--that is enough info for now. The Stony pub men would like to get some hints about you! By the way if you see #44--tell him the SP crew said HI and not to eat too much Hot Sauce Cheese and Chips without us! mt/tm

where are you sno? haven't heard from you lately. playing mind games with 96QT? I still cant figure out what was meant by rich "living la vida loca" Flashed anyone on main street lately? 05-23-2000, 15:16:42

Smiles from 85 - what I meant by Rick Martin from '85 is that he has basically the same name as "ricky martin" of pop music fame. Hey, 96QT - thanks much for the "narrowing" down of from your class. It helped so much that you said you lived "in the country." Come on, everybody from Phillips and the twin cities of Kennan and Catawba lives in the country! Landmarks. We need landmarks, girl. - The Blarney Stone neighbor

05-23-2000, 16:07:26

Hey, NEIGHBOR! It did narrow it down....There are about nine girls in my class that did not live in the country during high school, so you know I'm not one of them! Do you think clues like "his pants will kill you" really help me?! :) At least three of us on this site still have no exact clue what that means. I'll be nice, though, and give you another clue: I chose to pursue an education after high school.--That narrows me down to about 30 people, and I will have to think up another clue for you in a few short days.--Remember to submit your guesses to ninetysix_qt@hotmail.com! Also, I need more clues for you guys, or do I have you all figured out already?! --'96QT

Favorite Class: If I cannot count things like open block, study hall, or lunch as "classes," then I guess I would have to choose my math classes, simply for the people who were in them! Also, who can ever forget Mr. Zellinger (in English 9) jumping off a desk (to explain how critical it is to follow orders or something) and saying, "You forgot to pull the rip cord!" --'96QT

Hello Everyone! I'm glad to see some of the regulars are back here. Now, are you guys going to give me more clues and respond to the last guess (for TM/MT) that I posted on here a week or so ago? :) Also, my favorite PHS teacher was Mrs. Roberts. She's a great teacher and she let us have fun....But everyone respected her enough not to let it get out of hand. She's one of my favorite people! --'96QT

I won't tell you what year I took geometry. However I will tell you this.....(and I feel really bad about it) I was the one that ripped the big fart in Mrs. Roberts geometry class and then I blamed it on Karen Peterson. It feels so good to come clean about it and I hope Karen will forgive me. I gotta go put some glass packs on my car now. MT

MT/TM: Your apology has been delivered to Karin Peterson! If I'm thinking correctly, you had geometry sophomore year.--An 88 class member

Hi all, Say we haven't had any trivia on here for awhile so how about this one: Whenever a former PHS student hears a "tap tap" it brings back memories of: A. Mr. French reminding you to check your blind spot (even though you had already checked it at least twice). B. Mrs. Roberts doing Geometry proofs on the chalk board. C. The dropping and redropping of the TRS-80 in Mr. Hein's room to get them to function properly (yes I did say to function properly) D. Mr. Lightner's pointer hitting someone's desk to awake them from their sound sleep. E. All of the above. F. None of the above. If there are any other thoughts or memories out there that would pertain please feel free to add them to this list. -- An 88 Class Member

Mid 80's trivia is back - sorry I haven't been on for a while. My "pants-killing" partner has been off the page for a while, for that person is traveling the country. Look forward to seeing all of you at Le Pub de Stone for some fine cuisine - and maybe run the downburst race. Maybe a couple cool ones at 3-mile or 508. Anxious to see God's country! Here is some trivia I think you will enjoy. "Which 80's PHS student, while staring at Mr. Wirth's pants in US History, asked him if he was going camping because he may have already pitched a tent?" a)Debbie Eatinger b)Cori Helland c)Traci Cummings d)Tracey Kozey e)Nicky Moquin

Word--I will run the downburst and your balltuckers will be killing me!! How about wearing those bright orange b-ball shorts from the 80s--my sperm count is still low from those babies!! mt/tm

Anyone plan on getting back to God's country sooner than July 1st - meet you out at 3mile for a couple! Gotta get back for the downburst celebration...can't wait for the parade. Word...wondering if that class of 88 fella is going to ride his bike up or take his new compact car to Phillips.....? Snoop.

06-21-2000, 16:02:52

Wondering if Fourth of July weekend will have any "night swimmers" at Harbor View -- classes of the 80's have done it and will probably do it again. What about the 90's, QT? If only our two buds from 88 would show their faces back here again for the encore....

06-21-2000, 16:05:57

My answer to the young person who wants to celebrate downburst Thursday at 3 mile and then head north...only if they serve pickled eggs circa 1993! And they have to serve sun-drop, too. Ice cream sandwiches should help, as well! Old Cleary's freezer...gotta love it!!!!!!!!!!! Word. '87

Finally I get mentioned again! I thought I was being ignored here. :( But I guess you were all so busy, and now the normal crew is back! I'll be out on the prowl sometime over the 4th, so I will keep my eyes peeled for all those '88 class members who are too scared to e-mail me at ninetysix_qt@hotmail.com or give me more clues to reveal their identities! I'll give you a clue if you give me one! --'96QT

06-21-2000, 17:53:02

'96QT we were not ignoring you--just using our 80s charm to play hard to get! Why hide behind an email-- we are not afraid to show it all in public--just ask those who attended our class reunions! Becareful QT (hope you paid atention in biology and social studies) you never know when the indians, hawks, eagles, and crickets will move about the food chain. It is all about dove hunting, logging, and being politically correct! or maybe not Brats and DNA anyone??? mt/tm

06-21-2000, 19:50:08

MT/TM - what is up with the Indians, Hawks, Crickets, and Eagles? I know who you are, and I can't even get that one. Food chain? Anyway - talk to everybody soon - in a little more than a week...word to Terry.

06-21-2000, 19:51:52

Brats and DNA, anyone? I don't get that either... The question is, are you going to be showing your brat at the Harbor when you jump into 32 degree water? Or will it become a turtle? Word.

06-21-2000, 20:55:16

Who's hiding? I gave an e-mail address and you haven't given one or e-mailed me yet. Anyway, aren't you "the man?"--Shouldn't "the man" take charge and tell me who he is? I think so! Anyway, I'm not hiding....I'm sure I'll be out for the 4th, as many of us '96ers will be. Catch me if you can!! --'96QT (P.S. Submit all guesses as to my identity to my e-mail address.)

Remember, QT - MT/TM is not the person you think he is...here are some hints and he will not be upset with me for this....he is not married, but he is willing to learn. He likes to hang out in Phillips - he is a country kid. His shorts were a bit too tight in high school, as he will admit. He had a short stint with the Lakeview Twins in Little League, as did his older buddy (myself). Left-hander at the plate and a righty throwing arm. A deadly combination. One of his first loves was basketball, though - he is disappointed you didn't know who he was when the basketball players from 88 were mentioned. I, for one, was hurt for him, too. He loves cooking sausages outside at his home away from home, and he loves watching his friends get sunburned while he laughs at them. That little bastard.... oh, yeah, he loves the Stoney Pub, Three-Mile, and the Harbor. Wooden Shoes, too. Loves to grab his pole when the smelt run! Only problems he had gotten into with the law were eating late-night pizzas at the old middle school teachers' lounge and maybe a few eggs thrown back in the day. Love ya, buddy ----- see you 88 members coming back for the fourth -- your 87 compadre

Thanks for the extra hints, but I do remember that MT/TM is not the person who I thought he was. But, at the beginning of all this, TM had said he wanted to wear his "wingdinger," the one he wore when he got married, to the next reunion. Or are TM and MT/TM two different people? You guys are really trying to confuse me here; luckily for you all, it is working some! I would have guessed #30 on the team, but I thought mt/tm was married. Is mt/tm #30? Geez, I didn't mean to offend anyone by skipping over them. Now I feel sad for him too; dang me! You have to remember I am doing some pretty heavy duty detective work here, being 8 years younger and all, so you have to cut me a little slack. And some of these clues are pretty obscure. Seems when I hang out in Phillips, I only really go to one of the places you guys go to; otherwise, I have fun at places where you guys obviously aren't. We may never meet!! AH!! Anyway, 87 Compadre, I think I know who you are.--Do you have a younger brother? Hmmm.... That's all for tonight. Good-night, boys! --'96QT

Hey 87 Compadre--We need to educate 96QT on some 80s movies--what is your top 5 list?? Top Gun?? (kelly m oh baby) Footloose?? (gotta love the Chuck Taylors--87 have you worn yours lately? maybe we should next Thursday night in P-town) Hoosiers?? (did they mention a wingdinger and once again Chucky Ts?) Rock III ("cause mickey loves ya") or IV Breakfast Club (we had way more stories and fun at PHS) Youngblood (mt/tm's date stood him up at this one--96qt can you believe that?) mt/tm

OK, Folks - 87kid here - do I have a brother? Yes. He likes beer. Anyway, top five movies at Cinema North back in the totally rocking 80's: 1) "Trading Places" - was the first R rated movie I got into, so how could I forget? 2)"A View to a Kill" - okay, it is a James Bond movie, but I got to second base that night at the show house...major moment with an upperclassman(woman, of course) for me - it was right before the blimp blew up and I did the reach around with my left arm! She was wearing a purple top...ooh, I digress 3)"Top Gun" would have to rank up there because of the soundtrack and Kelly McGillis' tongue-lashing of Tom Cruise. 4)"Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is a sleeper - gotta love it - nine times absent...nine times 5)"DC Cab" and "Bachelor Party" - two of the most full-frontal nudity-type shows ever played at Cinema North. Back in the day, that was a big plus for a guy who got to second base once every James Bond movie or so....gotta go, supper's on. Can't wait to hook up this coming week - I really miss hearing the noon whistle and the smell of Lionite. Adios from 87kid - class of 88, Mt/TM, and QT - over and out.

qt96 - where are the hot spots this coming fourth of July? We will be out in force - totally rocking 80's. Possibly have our Bryan Adams shirts on, just possibly. Touch of Iron Maiden, little Bon Jovi - we will see. Definitely some Chuck Taylors, however. Do you live in the country or city limits of Phillips (when you were in high school)? Or did you hail from the "Twin Cities"? We are cracking our younger siblings'/girlfriends' yearbooks soon –

Hello 87 Compadre, MT/TM, etc: I will answer whether I am from the countryside of Phillips, Kennan, or Catawba if you HONESTLY tell me if #30 is MT/TM. If you don't want to tell anyone else, e-mail me at ninetysix_qt@hotmail.com :) As for the "hot spots"....Anywhere I am is HOT! (Sizzle!) So, answer my question and I'll answer yours...Fair is fair, chicos. --'96QT

For some reason I cannot get your address to work, so how about you send me an e-mail, (you know my address), and then I can hit "reply to." OKAY?--That might work. I'll be happily waiting for a response. --'96QT

Illegal comments? This class reunion page has been pretty clean. As long as the statute of limitations has run out (13 years) since we egged a certain teacher's house near Eyder Avenue, we are okay. Hope everybody e-mails back - '87' Stoney Pub Rules - however, the old Omar's is pretty good for pizza. Drop by and see us sometime - actually we should be up there the middle of October! Word!

I take full responsibility for my quote here: "Hot sauce cheese and chips rule." - Gotta love the card playing games in the eastern part of the state, if you know what I am saying.

Illegal comments!!!!! mttm will fully investigate those and future comments!! 96QT we will check it out! Now I guess I know why we need to add another part-timer on the police force (law enforcement investigations??)--those darn violators on the reunion page--pleeeease!! gag me with a spoon--how is that for eighties! word to the hot sauce king

Oh, I know the answer to this one! Yes, it is an indian word. Wabasso means rabbit and the name Wabasso first came about when my dad, Charlie Brendel was a senior at Phillips High School. I have 2 copies of the first Wabasso and it came out in 1925 I believe. (or was it 1924?) Anyway, the word came from a line in "HIAWATHA" My dad told me the city was overrun with rabbits in the old days and the students thought that was a good name. (Have you noticed that trend again?) They tried to fool with "tradition" once and attempted to change the name and the alumni went beserk!
